Why i think going defense with the 1st pick is a bad idea

Hear me out.

Its no secret Romo is one big hit away of being done for the year and maybe longer.

McFadden and Morris are iffy at best to carry us after this year. Mc Fadden's contract is over after this year and Morris is signed for two years. This being said if we go defense with the first pick we could possibly have TWO large holes in the offense at the end of the year.

We have invested heavily in our offensive line which made Demarco all pro caliber and made Mc Fadden look great. So why not take Elliott with the first pick and have him run being this great line for 5 years. How great would that be? It would take pressure off Romo and open up the passing game because teams will have to load the box just like when Murray was here. It will slow the pass rush which in turn preserves Romos playing time. Just imagine what this offense could be with an outstanding running game.

I understand we are hurting on Defense. But if we have an unstoppable offense it protects the defense just like when Murray was here. If we go Defense and Romo gets hurt I seriously doubt Mc Fadden and Morris will scare anyone.

I'm not willing to go into the 2017 season with a broken Romo and needing a running back. Preserve Romo and Run the ball down their throats. Lets get back to the 90's team that Garrett really built this offense to emulate and maybe then we can count on Romo lasting a few more years.

Call it what you want. If we take Bosa or Ramsey or anyone else and Romo goes down, then it wont matter how good they are because just like last year we wont be able to score. I'm just doubting Romo can take many more hits. Its time we build behind all the money we invested in the Oline. Are you willing to risk going into 2017 needing a RB and QB?

When you evaluate what you want as a fan, first realize where the plan is already going. Murray, McFadden and Morris all point to a decision within the organization that Fans shouldn't disregard.

Plus Elliot has off the field concerns - which are really adding up with the likes Gregory, McClain who are close to finished with one more positive test, and supposedly the Kraken was partying Hardy last year as well.

So let me in on the plan since your in the know. Sure they might not want to sign a high priced FA running back for big dollars. I can agree the front office is not on board with with that. But it doesn't cost nearly as much to pay a top RB that you draft. If you cant sign him to a second contract in 5 years then so be it. Run him hard for the 5 years.

Seems to me they realized what they lost when Murray left. that's why rumor has it they tried to get him back. It not only took pressure off Romo but it made the Defense a top defense. Last year with most of the same players the defense looked sorry. They were on the field too long because the offense couldn't move the ball or score. We lost way to many games where we scored under 17 points.

Any of Dixon, Henry, Collins, Booker etc. seem very capable behind our line. Don't think a RB at 4 would change it.

Elliott's rookie contract would be 9th among current RB contracts, between Chris Ivory and Demarco Murray. It would already be above what the team is comfortable paying for RB.

On the positive side, resigning a top RB 4-5 years from now might be like resigning a top Center (i.e., comparatively easy and cheap). A Peterson, M Lynch, J Charles, J Stewart will likely be gone by the time Elliott comes up for renegotiation with Lesean McCoy pretty close too. There hasn't been a next wave of RBs that will drive up the franchise tag in the future. It's Gurley and nobody else so far.

It's all perspective. Dallas lost 6 games by 7 points or less last year because or defense is what kept us in games. They just couldn't finish. A couple strong defensive picks could change this.. I guess it's all in how you want to look at it. Personally, I just want Dallas to make sure the first two picks make an impact on our team this year. Add Dez, Romo, Thornton, and Scandrick.. That's potentially 6 impactful players added to last years team.

Why not, we've used five of our last seven first round picks on offense, might as well continue the trend. Besides our defense is already so dominant.

Those 90s teams had one of the best defenses in the league.

This offense is on par with those teams already. The defense is not.

I really can't believe there are people that wouldn't be giddy to have Ramsey on this team. The guy is the best or 2nd best player in this draft and if he's at number 4 we should be jumping up and down with pure joy like a little boy does when he gets his first bike.

I think Morris and DMC can get us thru this year. I like Zeke but have cooled off on him a bit. I think next year with Fournette and Dalvin Cook are better choices.

Never wait until the following year to get a player you think is better.
That's like passing on...oh say...let's pass on Marino because Payton Manning is coming out next year. though we have no idea where we will picking at.

What if the wheels on the bike are defective? Just can't tell from the advertisement of it on the video.
