Why I'm extremely annoyed the Vikings lost to the Bears

Because we HAVE to win on Sunday now whereas before it was a throw away game because it was another game with the same team the next week. I feel that from a fan's perspective, it would be very hard to beat the eagles two weeks in a row so I kind of wanted to see us lose on sunday and go to the Linc the next week and knock the eagles out of the playoffs. See to me that was the BIGGER PICTURE because we all know winning the NFC EAST means nothing once the playoffs start. So since we didn't need the game on sunday and would already be in the playoffs I would have been cool with the Cowboys coming off a loss heading into the second matchup at the Linc.

So if we win on sunday I can just see the eagles headed into that game the following week with determination especially since the game would be in Dallas and the fact they would be 0-2 against us this season. If the game is at the Linc, the Cowboys get to be that HUNGRY team coming off a loss the week before and will be pumped since the game is in their place and beat the Eagles in front of their fans.

Does anyone see the point I'm making in regards to the Eagles?

I don't think the Cowboys even have to face them in Philly with the current scenarios and its possible they won't have to face them at home if they win. Not something we should be worried about anyway, this is what the playoffs is all about.

The vikings losing on Monday DECREASED the chances of Dallas playing Philly back 2 back weeks. This thread makes no sense.

Funny thing is with that Vikings loss, the chances of playing Philly in the playoffs decreased.

Why would you want to face Phili in Lincoln field where it's COLD and hostile. We may play well in hostile environment but not so much in the cold.

The Vikings actually helped us in several ways by losing to the Bears:

1) It erased the possibility that we would have to travel to Philly to play in the wildcard round with a loss this weekend, if we were to lose to Philly in week 17. One scenario with a Viking win had us traveling to the Linc for the opening round of the playoffs with a week 17 loss. Does that give you a warm and fuzzy?

2) It gives us a crack at the #2 seed, for which the loss to the Bears was critical. I didn't think the Bears had any fight left in them.

3) Even with a loss this weekend, if we do lose, we get a favorable matchup versus either Zona or Minny on the road for the opening round of the playoffs...instead of going to Philly.

With this in mind, I'm extremely happy that the Vikings lost to the Bears, and you should be too.

Of course the players can't have the lose this week mentality but as a fan I think that it's better to come off a loss if you are playing the same team two weeks in a row. So now Sunday's game is even bigger because if we lose the Eagles not only win the division but they get a 1st round bye. So that's why I didn't want to see the Vikings Lose on MNF.

I would rather play any other team in the playoffs over Philly. They are agressive on both sides of the ball, unlike the other teams.

Even though I HATE the Eagles, I have to admit, Reid does have our number. This is why I was hoping that they would have fired him last yr.

Exactly, my point is now we HAVE to win because the Eagles get a bye if we don't. If the Vikings had won Monday and Sunday, if we lost to the Eagles they would only win the divison and be playing us again the following week.

My point is that sunday's game is no longer a THROW AWAY game like it could have been if the Vikings clnched the 2 seed.

Why are we afraid to face Philly twice?

Yes....it will be hard to win two weeks in a row against them.

But it will also be hard for THEM to beat US two weeks in a row.

We're good too!

I didn't want the Eagles to be in position to get a BYE. This is why I'm worried because that would give Reid and Mcnabb the confidence they had in 2003 when they were the top two teams in the conference. So much has to happen for us to get a 2 seed which is why I don't care about it. I wanted to see the Cowboys go into Philly in a wildcard game and win. Now that scenario seems unlikely.

BTW: I don't care about HFA in the playoffs so it wouldn't matter to me to see a game at the Linc.

Because the last time Reid and Mcnabb lost to a team 3 times in a row in the same season, it was 2000.

Seriously, too many people are over-thinking this thing and letting fear take over.

Probability may say that odds are against beating an evenly matched team 3X in a row (like flipping quarters and landing on heads 3x in a row) but the reality is that each time you flip that quarter there is a 50-50 chance. The previous two flips have no magical powers over the 3rd flip.

Guaranteed the Eagles are not too enthusiastic about playing the Cowboys for a 3rd game and if it happens they want that 3rd game to be in Philadelphia. Home field advantage trumps the "3 times in a row" head game.

Coincidetally, I'll be that was the LAST time they played a team three times in a season.

that isn't a frequent occurrence anyway. How many other times have they played the same team 3 times in a season since then?
