I guess we have a different definition of "beatable," and I guess any team in the NFL is capable of being beaten on any given Sunday. So try this one on for size ... "The Colts have been the least "beatable" team in the NFL this year."

Your original question was, "What do we have to fear with the Colts?" Well, harken back to the preceding paragraph for your answer.

You are a better fan than I.

I would never draw that conclusion. Everyone roots for their team differently. But to break down what I see with the colts and why I think they are beatable

1. They are not an elite Defense. We do have a very good Offense.. we will score points on them.

2. They can become very one dimisional. granted, they are by far the best one dimisional team on the planet.. but it is still better than having to defend two things.

3. Marvin Harrison is a beast and he will get his.. thus I would not waste Newman on him. I would put Newman on Wayne and roll coverage to Harrison side.. I think TNew can cover wayne one on one.. and that would make Manning throw into double coverage for his favorite target.

4. I would put ware over clark,, and not let him off the line of scrimmage.

5. Manning is great as long as he is in his comfort zone. But he can become impatient. Disrupt his timing.. hit him occassionally,, and he will make mistakes.. been that way since he played at Tenn.

Those are my top 5 reasons/ways to beat this team. They have won 9 games this year.. but not by dominating teams.

I am.

Fellas, some may agree but we may be looking at "not one of the best" but "the best" Quarterback to every play the game (at least in the regular season).

Darren Woodson was on the radio talking about how you have to disguise your defensive schemes and blitz packages because the way Peyton Manning beats you is with his mind.

We have had problems getting constant pressure on the QB, heck Brunnell could have baked a cake and still had time to throw the ball at times last week.

This is the best team we will have faced all year, their 9-0, they haven't dominated all of their opponents but they have found ways to walk away with the allmighty "W" and oh yeah, they are 9-0.

Yes, like Parcells said of the Colts in his PC, "Anybody would have their hands full. It won't be easy."

Parcells said he watched the Pitsburgh game last year and I bet he watched the SD game as well. I watched those games just like alot of you have and I remember one thing....Pressure, Pressure, Pressure.

Never said they weren't a good team,, but they are beatable. I always have confidence my team,, always. We could be 0-9 right now and I would still think we had a shot to win. That's just me. I know records don't mean anything on the field. It comes down to players making plays, period.

We have the talent, that I am very confident in. It will take the boyz best effort of the year to win.. this won't be easy.. but I know in my Heart,, that if this team shows up to play.. we can beat them.
With the way some of these fans are talking the Cowboys, might as well forfeit the game right now because they don't have a chance and if some of the people think we can't match the Colts on offense in particular is totally insane.

The last time I checked we had the #1 redzone scoring offense in the league this is going to be a great game no doubt about it I know what to expect from Peyton, Marvin, and Co.

Their defense doesn't scare and yeah they did do well against the Patriots, and the Bills on defense in regard to stopping their WRs, neither New England, nor Buffalo have the WRs we have and remember this same Colts defense played well against Maroney, and Dillon stopping the run last Sunday but they gave up 100 yds rushing yesterday to a former Cowboys castoff Anthony Thomas so JJ, and MB3 should be licking their chops right now and I believe we're still in the top five rushing in the NFL.

There were some people after the Giants loss who threw in the towel when we played Carolina, and most predicted that Romo, would leave in a body bag after that game oh wait we won that 35-14 against at the time one of the best front fours and football and we manhandled them.

Yeah the Colts, are a different beast though offensively but the one thing I hope the Cowboys do is watch game tape of the Steelers, and the Chargers to see how to attack the Colts offense.

I worry about #5. I haven't seen that at all until last night when Ellis was chasing the QB for his life and we all know he went down. I'd love to think we could do this and our DB's would welcome it for sure, but I haven't seen it yet.

I'm not throwing in the towel. I think we have a chance to win the game. But I'm not guaranteeing it either

Peple are worried because they Have a Offense that can rack up points in a hurry. And dont tell me our Defense is good.

A good defense comes to play week in week out. Our defense is Average at best...Say what you want. We give up big plays and cant put teams away.

Against Manning and the Colts you're darn right I'm worried.

Do I think we can win? Sure I do but that is going to be very hard...We'll see what happens.

this is my concern -- a shootout.

that takes us totally out of what we do best. if manning starts lighting it up, i'm afraid it could get ugly.

I don't make predictions either but some on this forum are just delirious to think we can't match up with the Colts are fooling themeselves.

That is why we have the running game but if the Colts, come to Texas Stadium gearing up to stop the run then expect Romo, to light them up through the air and it just might be a shootout anyway.

There are more ways to get a QB out of his comfort zone that don't include pressure. Pressure is great.. but there are other ways. One is to disrupt the timing patterns of his WRs.. this will mean playing close at the LS and not letting them off cleanly.. it means taking inside positions to take away the quick slant.. it means making him throw passes he don't like to throw.. every QB has passes he don't like,, beit the fade, the post.. the corner route whatever.. the coach's will find it and make him throw it.

It could also involved him seeing things that aren't there.. very clever movement of the D. One of the things I would do.. is everytime is comes up and does all his changing.. is have brady do the same thing on the D.. Match him word for word..I would move Ware around alot.. I would even line him up inside a few times. Heck I might even Line all 11 guys up on the LS and then back out,, then send a few of them.. who knows.. just be creative.

Ring, I know I qualify for the group to which you refer. I don't believe that any of the fans are suggesting forfeit, or that we have no chance to win the game.

The original question on the table was "Why fear the Colts?"

That question struck me as odd, since the Colts currently have the best record in the NFL. They also have the best QB in the league, and have not lost a single game. The answers to the original question seem kinda obvious, no?

OK - so let's swing the equation over to our side.

While we have many statistics that would indicate that we should be superbly matched against the Colts, I would refrain from leaping to that conclusion based on the fact that not only have we not won 8 in a row, we have yet to win 2 in a row ... and we have not beaten any elite teams this season.

So, when addressing the initial question on the table, I'd say we have plenty to fear. Now, if we do manage to find a way to win (which is possible on any given Sunday), that should bolster our confidence heading into the next game a great deal.

But until we do beat a very good football team, and maybe string together two wins in a row, I'm not sure that I yet share your fearlessness staring down the gun barrel at the NFL's best team.

This game is at the most opportune moment... Make or break game at the crossroads of our season against the best team in the game. Sigh.

While I agree this game is important(arent they all LOL)... it wont be make or break... simply because of the state of the NFC

3 teams @ 6-3
3 teams @ 5-4 (waiting on Carolina currently 4-4)
4 teams @ 4-5 (waiting on Carolina currently 4-4)

Its gonna go down to the wire... we will have some growing pains with Romo... but we are getting help from other teams that are losing... ie. Giants last night, Falcons, Minny, St. Louis

The only thing that concerns me about the Colts' game at all is the officials.

Peyton and Company seem to get more calls than any other team. Dallas' opponents seem to get an inordinate amount of calls. Call me a cynic but I'm very concerned the zebras don't call a square game.

Every other matchup points towards Dallas.

Dallas is the most difficult team to score on through the air in the league and Indianapolis' OL isn't built to pound it out in the red zone. We'll see the Colts answering Dallas TDs with FGs.

It's not fear...it's respect...and anyone who doesn't respect Indy and their
9-0 record is insane. They have so many ways they can beat you.

We have a team that is 5-4 with a lot of bad things happening every week, even in the games we win (penalties)...

Of course Dallas can beat INdy, but I wouldn't bet on it without getting some odds and points...no intelligent man would.

This is a game we are "supposed" to lose, so if we play well and lose, there will still be a chance to get a little run going and finish 10-6...but if we win, it will hopefully be a huge turning point and a game we can build upon.

I'm not concerned about them defensively (save for Flo vs Freeney). I'm worried about a shootout.

we will run all over them and keep manning off the field which will result in us winning the game. and like i said a thread last night, we got to blitz and hit manning hard to get him rattled. i dont care if early we get called a roughing the passer but we got to hit him hard
