Why is the Dallas media soft?

Seriously, they have no balls. None of them put any pressure on this pos owner or hc of ours. NY media and Philly media, would tear them down.

One word, revenge. He's vindictive toward anyone not giving him and his family favorable coverage. They all know the Bayless and Hansen stories. And if they're overly critical, access will be denied to breaking stories.

The problem with being the Cowboys radio flagship station is a) they can't make any money with it and b) there are requirements from the family about coverage and access to the airwaves. All you have to do is look at the longest string of flagships in the NFL since he's owned the team.

The Cowboys used to be a plum and KRLD went out of their way to retain it and Schramm made sure they kept it. The were known as the Cowboys station. Now, that falls to 105.3, a station desperate to be DFW's sports station and willing to put up with the Joneses to try and achieve that. They should just buy a station and make that Cowboys all the time.

One thing different about those NY/PHL markets, the owner doesn't pimp himself to the media. Mara and Lurie only come out when they have something to say and Booger is out all the time saying nothing. The NY/PHL media are gloves on with them but will go after the GM or HC, if they're deserving. The DFW media is soft around Garrett because he's Booger's boy and part of the family.

The other situation is that there are a lot of people in the Metroplex that don't like any negative vibe about the Cowboys as that is a reflection on Dallas, not the team. Money talks.

The Ticket guys don't do a bad job or raking Jerry and Garrett over the coals but they do it on air and would never do it by confronting him in a presser. But there are some even there that sidestep hard hitting issues. Brad Sham and any guy associated with the Cowboys are just pawns or fired.

Jerry is a businessman. I'm sure he has made it in the interest for the Dallas media not to cross him.

It's natural for the media to get in bed with the people they cover. The media needs info. The people they cover control access to that info. The more they play ball, the more access they get. It's not rocket science.
