Imagine what would happen to viewership if Fantasy Football were to crumble.....that could be the end of society as we know it. ;)
Fantasy has reached its ceiling...... I have been playing for decades and interest is waning

People are going thru the motions but trades are way down, trash talking is nonexistent and people are spending a lot less time on it

I love football, always will, but it has been an odd season for me. I just don't feel as excited as I used to get. There are a few things in play for me here as to why. For starters, the Zeke witch hunt. This is a ridiculous case. I mean this genuinely without homerism. The anthem protest took some wind out of my sails too. Mostly because I'm tired of hearing about it. The last part is the refereeing . It's terrible. Anytime a big play happens I just wait for a flag. I've watched flag after flag on drives. It gets old and slows the game down. Let these guys play and be fair across the board. Still waiting for a holding call for Dallas's defensive line.

+1

So everyone knows the background here. Fuzz dislikes me very much for my politics. Where he goes wrong is he basically attacks most everything I post because he cant attack my politics in here. The two should NEVER mix. Its dumb. One has nothing to do with the other. This is why it is a GREAT thing that politics are taboo in here and hopefully always will be. All it does is cause hate and dissension in a place that has nothing to do with Politics. Really Fuzz,... you should probably just put me on ignore.

The Zeke issue and their abuse of power and authority are a reason why I don't watch games besides Dallas.

Also the anthem/kneeling this is a big issue for me, but for the opposite reasons as most.

I predict that within 2 decades football will no longer be the USA's #1 sport. I think the main reason is the concussion problem. I think baseball or basketball will move up to #1 at some point.

your right. The fact that mothers are not letting their kids play football as much really seals NFL future in itself. Now with NFL having major image problem it will accelerate things. Football has been #1 for me for long time but I will concede its long term viability is not looking good.

Im 27 and a die hard cowboys fan... years past I couldnt imagine a Sunday without a full day of football no matter the team because of fantasy etc. Not to mention catching ESPiN for any news...

Now I cant stand anything other than the boys game... Its college football all day Saturday.. Watch the boys and work around the house

because at the end of the day the NFL is a business and a business will always try to screw their union whenever they can. This is them getting leverage on NFLPA

I don't know. It's been a steady decline in interest for me over the past few years and it has nothing to do with protests or situation's like Elliott's. It the on field product. Instant replay has sucked the fun out of it for myself, I never know if a play will stand or be overturned, so I get no excitement from scores or big plays.

Used to be I'd start watching at noon and a game would be on all day and the Sunday night game too. Now, I still watch the Cowboys but that's it. I think a lot of fans are doing the same, watching their favorite team but don't care about any others.
I agree. Especially with the instant replay. Over officiating is sterilizing the experience as well. I barely even celebrate anymore. On every play, I wait for the flag. On every TD and turnover, we wait.

And after the Dez catch fiasco, I am not even sure what's going to happen regardless of what the video showed.

I have been a fan since 1975.
I have read many post where the older fans are losing interest in the NFL,
and a lot of the younger generations are not much interested either.
We may watch Cowboy's games, but not other games or NFL shows.
The whole anthem protest thing and
Roger Goddells heavy handed treatment of Zeke are just taking the joy out of being a fan.
Don't understand Roger making an example out of one of the NFL's best young stars on the NFL's
most popular team, just plain crazy!
Will continue watching the Cowboys, but don't really care much about the rest of the League.
How do others feel about all this ?
Just sad to see America's once most popular sport going down the toilet.
I feel your pain 100%. Finding myself caring less and less about the sport.

Hard to understand the NFL owners. Group of old men that have lost touch with the fan base. I never understood the Brady thing and can not grasp why they would want to deprive all NFL fans of enjoying a Star RB perform for absolutely no logical reason. Baffling.

There are a few new sports that is taking away from people watching sports. Not only children, but they are learning this from their parents as well.

Video games and Facebook / social media.
lf they are not doing one, they are doing others.

All they want to do is collect fake friends and likes / thumbs up.

It won't be 2 years, but in 10 years, we will see a decline much more than now. It will get so boring, no kick offs, no punt returns, tackling will be reduced to just grabbing the player by the waist, just wrap them up. If tackled to the ground, it will be a suspension.
They will have a "Zeke" rule in order to play at all. Can't be accused by a psychopath person for brushing against them walking down the street...automatic 6 games, next offense banned.

The game will get so boring, the corporations will then take over, and we will have....RollerBall...as in the James Caan movie....:muttley:.....
Agreed. When you lose the hitting...you have lost football.

They are stupid. The Cowboys are the most popular NFL team and they are going to jeopardize a great Cowboy playoff run for nothing.

There really aren't that many great games on Sundays anymore. The best games are usually Sunday Night. Mondays and Thursdays are awful. Used to be great games all day.
In the modern game where there is a lack of competition not just between clubs but also amongst the players..if the average fan doesn't have an emotional attachment to a club the games, in general, are terrible. It didn't used to be that way. To me, everything has been spoiled by the lust for money by all parties involved and the lack of passion by the huge majority of players. Its all the about the next big contract or endorsement deal and heaven forbade hard play or an injury might effect that.

I could tell you but it's a bannable subject.

No kidding. It is obvious the NFL is afraid of public opinion. But not necessarily the opinion of the fan as much as special interest groups that would start an onslaught of negative press against the league. There is a point of view in this country which wishes to shut down any dialog by the opposing views. And now that America has moved away from truth in the press to got cha journalism, the league, and perhaps more specifically Goodell is genuflecting to that platform.

Ray Rice essentially walked and Zeke is dying for his sin. Instead of just coming out and saying they made a horrific mistake with Rice, and they had the video and were hoping they could skate and the video not come out (Goodell), they now take a posture of toughness against a guy which was not even charged. Now the rebuttal is there just wasn't enough evidence but the DA was either biased or said they didn't think they could get Zeke. But they felt there was something there.

But who put out that information?

The league.

So instead of seeing this woman who made the claims as the same as Nina Sharavan, forcing her to prove her claims and not just someone who wanted to get paid. The league is moving the opposite way for public approval. They will wreck this guy, besmirch his reputation, and kill any opportunity to maximize his earning for the sake of an autocrat and tyrant who appears to believe he is the NFL.
