Why isn't Randy Gregory more productive yet?

What's going on with him.

He showed a ton of promise, got injured. Understandable that we would ease him back in. But he isn't getting many snaps and I don't understand why?

In the little work I've seen of him, he looks good.

Any word?

He is struggling to apply his techniques at full speed. His hand work working inside on stunts is awkward and he cannot beat the tackles he is facing with his speed move consistently. He did have that LT false starting though. At the end of the day he ends too many rushes stonewalled when he is supposed to be moving upfield. Paddycake gets you nowhere.

Not doing much now but I am not worried about him and his future.

No reason to be worried, he's coming off an injury that limits explosiveness, and he has Hardy, Lawrence and Mincey ahead of him on the DE pecking order. You can bet if he was on this roster last year, he would have been second only to Mincey, and he'd be getting a lot more snaps, similar to how Hitchens was thrust to a starting position last year with Lee out, even with his high ankle injury. No need to rush him

His injury basically ended his season, he looks different than in the first game and preseason.

Doesn't look nearly as explosive now. I've seen him look good on a few rushes, but not nearly with the consistency he did before the injury. There was one speed to power play against Tampa where he rushed and knocked his man down, but you just don't see a lot of that from him. Maybe the second half of the season he comes on when he's all the way back from that ankle injury, if he gets onto the field.

It seems to me like he's just not strong enough. When I watch him closely out there he seems to get stone walled easily. Maybe next season with a full off season.

It's the nature of injuries is that you heal from them. He is healthy enough to play but that doesn't mean he won't regain more quickness over the next 6 weeks.

Are there any rookie defensive ends putting up good numbers?

He will get better when, as @FuzzyLumpkins said, his hands get better. He will develop some other moves including the bull rush as he gets stronger and heavier; assuming he doesn't lose speed with that.
