We don’t have a Joe Burrows or a Herbert, etc. . So what’s your move now with Dak signed? I’d suggest building a top 10 defense . And do it before his cap hit really kicks in .

And if you’re unhappy with resigning Dak who’s fault is that. You want to blame everything on Dak but he’s appears to be doing all he can with his abilities. I see much more we should be doing to help him.

Tony Romo is the perfect example. The dude was a really good QB and what did we see? We saw 3 straight 8-8 seasons from 2011 to 2013. That's criminal. The front office should be embarrassed. We're like the Lions, ruining another good QBs career. Thankfully for him he went to a team that wanted to win. That knew what they were doing.

I think the issue for a lot of people is the Cowboys had the ball with plenty of time left in the 4th. With over 2 and a half minutes left the Cowboys were driving and stalled at around midfield. Then got the ball back again and we all know how that ended.

True but while watching that game did you ever feel like our O-line was going to hold there water to mount a comeback? Again Dak certainly played his worse playoff game a deserves blame also but at no point in that game did I feel like our offense was doing anything other than trying not to drown under the pressure that defense was getting with a 5 - 6 man front and could not run the ball at all.

The "Elite QB" brigade is really struggling with the KM signing. On one hand, they love to say "Dak is a 4th round talent", "he is average or below", "Everyone around him carries him"....blah blah blah.

They scream..."You need an elite qb and you get those at the top of the draft".

Then they see former #1 overall pick KM and scream, "He is overpaid!".

Is he though? I know if these armchair "experts" were in charge, they would just cut him, or take up $30+ million on their cap with a franchise tag. They would know what to do with their major investment.

They always do.

This is what happens when you have 32 teams and 15 quality QB's.....and some just literally do not like the money that pro players are paid....Water is wet Sky is blue blah blah......it is what it is with QB pay in this league.

It’s pretty obvious why teams are willing to pay their franchise QBs who are less than elite. There’s big consequences not having a solid QB. Every season becomes a struggle trying to find a QB. You waste premium draft picks every couple of years trying to find one. Look no further than Cleveland and Washington and what they’ve gone through the past two decades. If you have a good QB who’s productive and gives you a chance you pay them!

No. At no point did I think we were going to score to take the lead. Zero chance. But there are those that expected it. I'm not one of them.

Maybe I'm missing something, but it seems to me that college is pumping out more first read run QBs. Who were the good QBs that came out of last year's draft? Maybe Lawrence? Mac Jones seems to be ok at best.
More pro set offenses being used in college?

Stafford had a low cap hit to begin with when he was acquired in the trade. His cap hit this year is only 13.5M and only 20M next year. The Rams did nothing to lower that cap hit. In 2024 it will be 50M, but who knows how high the cap will be by then? But for the time being, Stafford isn't a cap issue for the Rams.
Yup, cap manipulation is a thing. They’ll keep tinkering with it year by year to make sure it’s not a real issue.

What I'm saying is, the Rams got Stafford cheap for 3 years. Last year, this year, and next year. They didn't do anything to manipulate his contract. They are building around a cheap QB. He might be an issue in 2024, but the cap might be a lot higher too.

not likely as the talent diference between teams continues to get wider the only shot most teams have of beating better rosters is spreading them out and using the QB as a weapon also

Edit: I want to see how good Bama's 5th CB is before I want to see what the 5th DL looks like as he is still probably a bluechip bull.

I’m shocked Garoppolo wasn’t snatched up from the 9ers already. Guy isn’t great but an awful lot of success including postseason and probably not getting big money. He’s easily better than 10 or 12 starters out there

Agenda? What i said is a fact. If dak takes us further than we've been, all will be well. If he doesn't, all won't be well.

QB's dont take teams anywhere. If the Cowboys go to the NFC Championship game and Dak is playing like crap and throwing picks, it will mean nothing in regards to Dak. Same thing the other way.

Dak is a top 10 QB in the NFL. That doesnt change because a team has more or less success.

I never claimed you win with scrubs - look at the QBs who have won the Super Bowl over the past 10-15 years. They aren't in the middle of massive contracts. You can't win Super Bowls this way, there are too many positions and players that need to be paid. The only QB that won Super Bowls with a big contract is Tom Brady, and Brady has throughout his career been paid far less than his legendary status. The only other one I can think of is Peyton Manning - and that is when Elway blew up the cap in his "win now".

Brees couldn't overcome it and it looks like Rodgers won't be able to either. I imagine the same thing will happen to Mahomes.

Look at the QBs who have won SBs over that time span and then explain how you get one of those guys cheap. Are you saying it's all about timing? You have to build a team, and then magically find a QB who's pretty damn good at a low price? If that's your plan....good luck.

Had heard that more College teams were going with pro style offenses,
but that could be bad information.

I am saying it takes owners to nut up and negotiate in a way that is best for the team.

You aren't winning a Super Bowl by hurting your cap with these QB contracts, so why the hell do it? You have MORE of a chance of winning a Super Bowl by having a complete team surrounding just a good QB than you do paying a top 10 guy a historical contract.

When you consider where the Cards were and where they are now when they used the over all #1 pick , they are in a much better place from a 5-11 team to a 11-6 playoff team.

This is why you bust the bank on these less than Elite caliber QB’s because they bring you legitimacy and playoff caliber team.

Because they elevate you from a 4-6 win team to playoff contender. That makes all the difference in the world when your trying to sell tickets , merchandise and sponsor support.

What a joke. If there is no O line or WRs the QB elevates NOTHING. No matter who it is.
