Maybe we can resign Troy and Irvin. With our line it should'nt be more then
2 games before Troy has his next concussion. :laugh2: :lmao2:

I realize there is slim to no chance of this happening. I am just a wishful thinker and would love to relive the good years. Jimmy as head coach, many draft picks ... I would definitely be happy and psyched about the upcoming year. Don't get me wrong, the young talent on defense will be fun to watch next year and hopefully JJones can have a bounce back year at RB, but Parcell's "reactive" coaching style is something I could do without.

Troy was younger than Vinny. I bet he'd throw less picks too. Man I hate Testervarde!!!

99% of the time, when bands re-unite, they're a mere shell of what they use to be. Only a very few exceptions.

I'll pass.

That's usually only because they are old and have been cracked out on drugs for too long.

I don't think the same applies to the Jimmy and his staff.

I disagree. None have them have done SQUAT since they've left and they've had ample opportunity and time to do so.

Jimmy could not do the same now as he did then. Jerry Jones took over a team that was not very good at all because Bum Bright would not pay anything for players, coaches or other needed things. Tom Landry was probably working with a total budget of 1/4 what Jerry Jones spent per year EACH of the first 4 years.
Jimmy took over a team with high draft picks, made a few good trades and Jerry Jones gave him unlimited money to get the job done. Jerry bought the team for approx 180 million dollars the team is now worth over 1 billion and he is getting a new stadium out of the deal. So it was definatly a smart move for Jerry and a good investment.
Soon after Jerry Jones did all of that the NFL started with the salary caps and changed free agency.
Now it is much more difficult and more parity in the league.
I believe if Jerry Jones would have kept Landry and gave him everything that he gave Jimmy that we would have still won as many games and Super Bowls.
That does not mean Jimmy is not a good coach he is but Jerry Jones paid for all of the players, coaches and anything needed to get the job done. He had the best team money could buy. Salary cap prevents that from happening again like that.
Landry did not have a good team the last years because he did not have a serious budget to work with. Curly

I saw the WHO's final tour in 1980...The again in 1987...Then again in 1995.

Never belive a Band when they are claiming this is their final tour. My GF's daught saw that M in M guy this year at MSG...because it was supposed to be his final tour...I'm holding my breath now.

Having said that...Has there ever been a case where a coach has won a championship with a team...Left...come back and won another ?

Not sure, but I guess Gibbs is the closest that I am aware of.

I have a "perfect" plan for us to return to the playoffs and hopefully a Super Bowl. First, let Millen and Detroit hire Parcells. In exchance for letting Parcells out of his contract, Detroit gives us a second round draft pick. (NFL Network said Millen and Parcells are very close and the rumor is Millen wants Parcells in Detroit. If that is the case, we may even be able to snag a first.)

Next, hire Jimmy Johnson as head coach. Jimmy said on Fox about a month ago that Jerry is the one owner he would coach for. I take that as a huge hint. Jimmy then hires Norv and Dave as assistants. Give them all a three-year contract for one last chance for them to win at a Super Bowl together. Jimmy would love that ego/accomplishment. At the very least, this plan would create a huge marketing buzz and I believe most of us would be excited about the future.

Next, trade Glover and Ellis for second or third round picks. Combine those picks with the one we receive for Parcells and Jimmy can wheel and deal like the old days. Draft day would be even better than last year.

So what do you think? Why not put the band back together?

I would love to have JJ back......or BP back......win/win situation!

Why can't we do something original for a change ?

Why do we always have to get somebody else's EX coach, EX qb, EX rg, EX wr, EX cb, ... EX EX EX !! :bang2:

We are always looking for a quick band-aid fix.

Let's do our research and get a good young, hungry coach and stick with him for a while.

I hate the Steelers but they do it the right way, ... good drafts, very little FA and Cowher has been there forever.

I hope they lose every game, but I respect what they do.

You are correct. That's why I feel so strongly about the early 90s squads. Jimmy Johnson was OUR coach. Troy Aikman was OUR quarterback. Emmitt was OUR running back. Irvin was OUR receiver. None of these were retreads or castoffs...they were DALLAS COWBOYS from the beginnings of their respective NFL careers. Now, certainly we did get some role players from other teams...Casillas, Haley, later Deion, etc., but the coach and the core...the heart and soul of the Cowboys at that time were our guys that we hired/drafted, groomed and allowed to perform to the best of their abilities. That is what made it special.

I think Jimmy is not going to return to Dallas and highly doubt he gets back into coaching any time soon.

I seriously doubt it, too. But, lord, can you IMAGINE the shock wave it would send around the sports world? Wow. Bring Jimmy back, have a hot draft again...people would fear the Cowboys for the first time in a decade.

Back in '95, when that show "6 Days Til Sunday" was on and it showed Tony Dungee when he was the defensive coordinator for the Vikings (?) addressing the players as they were preparing for upcoming game against Dallas, you could sense the abiding respect for the Dallas offense in his voice as he spoke to them, and he even told the team that when they walked out on the field and saw Aikman, Irvin and Emmitt, that they would be "IN AWE" and to try and let those feelings subside and get into playing the game. Now, you tell me how long it's been, friends, since anyone has said that about these Dallas Cowboys.

Reunion tours never work because the reason that everyone broke up always comes up again within the first year. JJ was a great coach and I don't think he and Jerry could recapture the magic again.

I agree with WV Cowboy, let's find someone that is not an ex-something and think on our own for awhile. Assess the personell we have and find a coach who's ideallogy fits our current roster. Let us find the next Andy Reid, or John Fox, or whoever. Let's stop bringing in guys who have been here and start fresh.

I agree with you Alexander, I think Chan was outside the box. And I believe if he had been given the control of the team that BP has, he might have been successful. His major failing was, he was not Jimmy.
