Why not Vinatieri???

We got Vanderjagt who is statistically better across the board for ~$2 mil over 3 years, totaling ~$6 mil.

You just can't make some people happy...

You are forgetting Mike V's signing bonus.

And yeah, I would have been happy with Vinatieri. Would have washed out some of the bad taste the TO signing left in my mouth.

How do you know Adam V wanted to play here? People assume the real NFL is like Madden and you can just get anyone you want with no repercussions...and speaking of blowing it in the playoffs..if were are just going to go by last year and Vanderjagts last kick...well then Adam V blew a kick in the playoffs against Denver too.

I think that has to play a part. It is possible that Vinitieri just wanted to go to the Colts. If it is just about the money, then I think Dallas should have stepped up and paid him. That may not be the case and we will never know the full truth.

I am pleased with Vandy, but I think Vinitieri is worth more. Three Superbowl game winning FGs has made him the best kicker in the league in my opinion.

It is a wait and see as far as kick offs. If Dallas has to bring in a kick off specialists, this topic will probably come back up. I don't think Vanderjagts leg is weak on kick offs, but it isn't as strong as Cundiff's or Cortez's.

I couldn't be happier with our kicking situation. Jesus... for years we complained that we didn't have a K that was worth S***. Now, we have one of the best in the NFL and people are still complaining.

Dallas now has one of the best kickers in the NFL as opposed to one of the worst, like we've had for a couple decades. That should make Dallas fans happy.

And you know that how?

For all you know Jerry was on the phone with his agent every day for a week.

And actually we were mentioned as suitors in several places.

Ok, true, his agent may have told us 'Look, Adam just isn't interested in Dallas.'

But if that were the case don't you think that info would have come out some way some how?

Give me a break we got Vanderjaqt the most accurate kicker in the game.

How the hell can you be complaining

I would be happy to get Vanderject if I were you guys, which Im sure you guys are, but I wouldnt critisize this deal too much. I still think of him as top 5 kicker in the league and he is still going to be in a 'dome' so he should be just as productive.

Just wondering, how does the 'dome' effect the wind?

we signed the most accurate kicker in nfl history, and we complain
how soon we forget vinitari missed in the playoffs this past year, and missed twice against the panthers in the sb.and his k.o.'s are almost the same. guess ya did'nt take the time to notice that vinitari only averages 2 more yds on k.o.'s?

He played half his games in a dome, dude

He has just as good a kicking percentage outside as he does in a dome so that argument has no merit. Some people are just never happy, why get into a bidding war over a kicker when you make a HUGE upgrade by signing a great kicker? Lets just be glad we have a proven kicker and move on.

LOL i just can't believe some people.. its like a blind man getting a surgery to give back his sight and complain because he has to wear glasses lol.. just dont make no sense

First off, I'm not acting like he's the worst kicker we could have signed...he just wasn't the best. Making kicks under pressure is the difference between the Vinatieris and the Scot Norwoods of the world. He is better than what we've had...but is that saying much? That's like me saying I am the best snowskier in Thailand. Don't tell me to shut up...this is a forum and I'm using it. Cundiff's kickoffs were real boomers, weren't they?

Oh boo-hoo already. I wasnt telling YOU to shut up, I was telling everyone who complains about having a Tier 1 and the most accurate kicker in NFL history to.... Don't be so sensitive.

Maybe it just hasn't been Vandergagt's time to shine yet, he hasn't exactly had the chance to kick in a "Super Bowl". So I'll reserve judgement until he does and hopefully it will be with us.

Why would it? Do you think Adam wants it to be public knowledge that he hates the city of Dallas (or something)?

My guess is Adam gave the Cowboys a number that they considered too high initially. Then Longwell went off the board. Bryant re-signed quickly. Mare never got cut.

Suddenly there was only Adam and Vandy. And quite frankly the difference between the two is mostly in your head, except maybe for kickoffs. The moeny difference maybe made a difference, or maybe they just felt Vandy was a better fit, or didn't think even the 500K was worth the difference between the two players. Or Adam decided he just liked Indy better (he's from SD originally, maybe just wanted to be closer to home). Whatever.

Parcells has said numerous times what he wants most out of a kicker is accuracy under 40 yards. Everything else is gravy to him. Well, he got the most accurate guy EVER.

Let it go, there's still plenty of Oline problems to whine about.

He was signed he was the only decent one left, not because he's good or makes sense.
