Why the Eagles winning tonight won't be such a bad thing

Philly is the only threat for the division, so anytime they lose, it's good. Whether they win or lose this game, they will probably be favored over the Cowboys at home.

It's certainly not automatic that the eagles win tonight......the pre season Kelly hype is over.......accolades have to actually be earned now.

It's an interesting point.

However, let me take the counterpoint.

Let's say the Eagles do lose, and have all the pressure of going 0-2 headed into the game.

I'd love for us to be in a position to apply the boot to their neck and bring them to that 0-2 record. If our boys can do that without our best receiver, best CB, and (maybe) best pass rusher, AND having lost the Rushing Title winner to our division opponent, then maybe we can SHUT UP all this hype about the Eagles taking the division (and the Super Bowl - I live outside of Philly and hear it all the time).

In the end, all I want is a win - but wouldn't it be sweet to shut up all these idiots at the same time?

That would be great but it would be so damm hard because all week long the philly sports media will be trying to play mind games and make it see like we are world beaters so that the eagles can come out hype next week

If they win, then it would be nothing for the sports media to hype up because they would have met expectations of winning the first game

Why hope that a division rival goes to 1 - 0? There would be a really good chance that they go to 2 - 0 after next week.

Any time a division foe loses, it is a good thing, especially the Eagles this season.

We will be underdogs no matter the outcome tonight.

Records of our teams do not have any effect on the upcoming game, just like last nights didn't. It is always going to be a battle within our division.

Eagles will not win tonight. Outside of Murray and Mathew I don't see much in terms of weapons. I would be shocked if Bradford is still standing at the end of the game.

The giggles will blow Atlanta off the field

There, I said it, you can thank me later. My prognosticating abilities are atrocious and virtually every time I go on record with a prediction, the opposite will happen, although I did predict the Cowboys would beat the Giants in a sloppy game with much weeping and gnashing of teeth (both during and after the game) so hopefully that was merely an aberration

The Eagles are playing tonight? I'd forgotten about them.

Let's just see what happens next week. I'm pretty comfortable with how our team's put together no matter what the outcome in PHI next Sunday. An early season win there with a hobbled roster would be huge for Dallas, and it's not out of the question. Beyond that, this is a game I sort of expect us to lose going in, given it being in PHI, and being Demarco's return, with Dez and Hardy and Gregory now out. A win is some serious early-season gravy.

You want the Eagles to lose. You don't know how the tie-breakers will end up in week 17 ( if it comes that close)

How bout seeing them go 1-0 is not a big deal? Does that sound better?

I don't think you have to be all world to beat Philly. in the passing game Brent Celek looks to be the most consistent weapon they have.

Well the Falcons roster doesn't exactly scare anyone at least defense wise. I hope I am wrong but I think the Eagles will beat them like a red headed step child.

I just want to see them play in a real game against a decent team, and see what all this hype is about.

Let's say the eagles win tonight by double digits, that would have the media favoring them in their home stadium next week and how they are the high flying eagles and can't be stopped, That would put all the pressure on the eagles to live up to the expectations and force dallas to raise their level of play when going to philly next week.

Now if the eagles lose, you know that they will be more desperate next week trying to avoid 0-2. So Isn't a 1-0 eagles with a win over a weak NFC south team easier to beat since they will be favored instead of a 0-1 eagles team playing to avoid a 0-2 start?

Ya...I'd rather have the Eagles at 0-1.
