Why the Eagles winning tonight won't be such a bad thing

The giggles will blow Atlanta off the field

There, I said it, you can thank me later. My prognosticating abilities are atrocious and virtually every time I go on record with a prediction, the opposite will happen, although I did predict the Cowboys would beat the Giants in a sloppy game with much weeping and gnashing of teeth (both during and after the game) so hopefully that was merely an aberration

Yeah and Seahawks will beat the Rams. lol

But isn't it better to be the underdog in a road division game?

No.

It's better to have the opportunity to hand them their 2nd loss of the season and widen the gap.

There is no scenario where you would ever want your division rivals to win. Playoffs are determined by win/loss records.

Well the Falcons roster doesn't exactly scare anyone at least defense wise. I hope I am wrong but I think the Eagles will beat them like a red headed step child.

I'm not saying they will, I would take Matt Ryan with Julio Jones, Roddy White and Devin Hester over anything Philly has. Big key for Alt will be stopping the run game, if they can do that I think they have a good chance

Let's say the eagles win tonight by double digits, that would have the media favoring them in their home stadium next week and how they are the high flying eagles and can't be stopped, That would put all the pressure on the eagles to live up to the expectations and force dallas to raise their level of play when going to philly next week.

Now if the eagles lose, you know that they will be more desperate next week trying to avoid 0-2. So Isn't a 1-0 eagles with a win over a weak NFC south team easier to beat since they will be favored instead of a 0-1 eagles team playing to avoid a 0-2 start?

No, I don't like this stance at all. Because it sounds timid -- like we don't want to face a "desperate" Eagles team if they lose tonight. How's this? I don't give a flying fig if the Eagles win, lose or draw tonight -- all I know is that the team gets an opportunity to beat their heads in for 3+ hours next week and that makes me happy. Bring it.

The Falcons have no chance tonight. Because they're soft. Their coaches are soft, their players are soft. They are the Indy Colts of the NFC, vastly overrated. Here's the thing about Matt Ryan, he sucks.

Yeah but Eagles haven't beat the Cowboys @ home in 3 years and the Philly scheme is always going to be the same no matter who they bring in on offense.

But those games in philly were not in week 2 with the eagles being 0-1. They were much later in the season

All teams have a chance. Ryan sucks? so does Bradford. Tell me who are the Philly WR? Outside of the RB Philly does not have much. Not sure why people are over hyping Philly. What because of Kelly college no huddle offense? please give me a break. I'm not trying to claim Atlanta as a world beater but I sure as heck do not think Philly is either

It was just great to see the Commanders lose and lock down at least a share of last place in the NFC East yesterday, and here's hoping the Eagles join them tonight. If they win they will be tied for first with the Cowboys at 1-0, and that is not good - very bad, in fact.

The Eagles at 0-1 sounds real good.

And all the hype is because of preseason which makes no sense

I was obviously using a bit of hyperbole there -- yes, obviously all teams have a chance. This isn't really about whether I think the Eagles have a very good team, although I do. This is really about my total lack of respect for anything they have down there in Atlanta. We'll see if their rook coach can make an immediate impression, but you can't purge softness like that in one preseason. And yes, Matt Ryan is the most overrated QB playing today, it angers me that this guy has been ahead of Romo on most lists of the top QBs for the last several years now. Total joke.

That is why they play the games. We will see

Or maybe it has something to do with the fact that they fielded a very competitive team last year and have a much better team this year, given their additions/subtractions? I hate Philly as much as anyone, but they WILL be our primary opposition for the division title this year and like last year, I don't think that gets resolved until very late in the season. I don't have to sit here and pretend the Eagles aren't going to have a very dangerous team this year.

Falcons = Worst defense last year

I'm not holding my breath, but their D is bad. Which translates to another week of hearing how revolutionary and smart Mr. Potato Chip is
