Why the Eagles winning tonight won't be such a bad thing

I hope they're all so depressed they can't find the energy to shave their girlfriends' backs this week. I'm saving money for a 'You got Demarcus Murphy!' banner to fly over the Linc in the 4th quarter of a Cowboys blowout. I want to see Chip Kelly contemplating an arsenic smoothy. I want Bradford's exam results to come back positive for Progeria. I want their fans so depressed, they can't even work up the enthusiasm to make themselves vomit on small children. In short, I can't fathom wanting PHI to win just to avoid a dead cat bounce in week two. This thread confused me when it first came out. I'm positively befuddled that it's still somehow a topic of debate after they just embarrassed themselves on Monday Night Football.

Succinct!

People really really overestimate the emotional part of the game. You could just as easily say that they'd be confident (not overconfident) if they won, and now they'll be doubting themselves and tentative. In fact, people do say those things, usually trying to explain what happened after the fact. The Eagles will be the Eagles next week, and what happened last night didn't change that at all. Unfortunately, Sunday did change things for us, thanks to the Dez, Leary and Gregory injuries. Those are things that actually matter.

Im the type of fan who doesn't want to get greedy so early in the season. I would have been fine with the eagles winning last night just so they could lose next week and be one Game behind us in the division.

It was going to be rowdy regardless. At 0-1 should Dallas jump on Philly I think Philly fans are more likely to turn on Kelly and the eagles. He did not just get rid of players he got rid of some fan favorites. Bottom line philly record should have no bearing at all on the Cowboys taking care of their own business.

If we do lose I hope it's close game so that the 1-1 record will be easier to accept.

We get blown out and I will be very upset

I will be upset if we lose close or big. I go into the season just as the Cowboys players and coaches and that is with high expectation. Win or lose I'm die hard Cowboys but I go into this and every game expecting a hard fought game and a Cowboys win. Unlike some (not saying you) I don't think the entire season hinges on Dez.

Straight up, I think that even without Dez Bryant, the Cowboy receivers are every bit as good as what the Eagles bring to the carpet.

As to a running game, potential, I think that both teams are about even.

But offensively, the Cowboys have the best quarterback and offensive line.

Scheme on both the offensive and defensive side of ball for the Eagles, will be the key for the Cowboys to handle, in Philadelphia.

Yeah I see your point but I'm a weird type of fan and can look at the big picture after a loss and not feel too mad if we played hard and loss a close one.

I get over a loss and ready to move on to the next game. I don't expect Dallas to go 16-0 I also do not take any team for granted. However I expect the Cowboys to go out and fight hard and win games.

All of a sudden Byron Maxwell looks extremely suspect in the Eagles secondary, after giving up 10 receptions for 179 yds...on 11 targets! PFF score was -3.7

A long way from the "Legion Of Boom"...

Always chalked this one in Philly up as a loss but after watching that game last night, I think with Dez and Gregory, we'd have won this coming game. We can still win it but obviously it's a hell of a lot tougher.

Helps when you have Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellor playing the safety spots.

I expect a loss there, but I agree with you. If we had Hardy or Gregory, we'd probably be favorites in my mind to win it. As it is, if we just don't turn it over, we've got a good chance. Especially knowing PHI is vulnerable inside. If we have gap control, we can make this game one-dimensional on them and put Bradford under some pressure at the same time.

If Dallas defense can get some quick 3 and outs on Philly it starts putting a lot of pressure on Philly defense, Kelly continues to run the hurry up from start to finish. Philly defense will start sucking wind if we can pound the rock at them

Pretty much how they did it in the second match up last year. With Benny Logan, it will again be difficult to pry open the interior run lanes. They were pretty stout against Murray last year. I would definitely go after Maxwell while he's feeling funky about himself...10 catches allowed on 11 targets is hideous (18 yd average).

Yeah. It's kind of fun, because our methodical offense can really buy our defense time to rest up for Kelly's offensive pressure. If we're successful, we'll keep everybody fresh and with their interior protection issues, it could be a good thing for us.

Or, if we can't move the ball against their front, our defense could spend the whole game on it's heels. It's a teeter totter of a game, and nobody knows which side might teeter.

I do like our chances of running ball control against that PHI defense, though. If their secondary isn't improved, we'll have opportunities to move the chains, for sure.

Next to a Cowboy win, I'm most happy when I see a division rival lose. Having all 3 lose on one weekend is like Christmas.

I think the whole reverse psychology thing in sports is overblown. Maybe after a big emotional win there can be a letdown, or if the team is about to be eliminated from playoff contention a team may have more emotion. But a division game week 2 -- everyone should be excited to play in that.

I agree I think it is a bit overblown. Dallas will be up for Philly, they know these are physical games and you better be ready. No love loss between these 2 teams

See I look at the big picture. If we lose then we are both 1-1. If the Eagles would have won and beat us this week, we'd be a game back. Even if the Eagles beat us, the season is not over. We'll get them again. There are a lot of tough games on the schedule. We all play the AFC east. Nobody's going undefeated.

True but you play to win. I will be disappointed if we lose to Philly that is a normal reaction to be disappointed in failing however the season will still have a long way to go before anything is decided win or lose this game
