Because NE WINS, it is not a hard conclusion to make. Now why does NE have winning ways? Belichick gets rid of older players when they get expensive by getting other teams high draft choices and building good foundations. It helps that he is a good teacher and he builds around the players instead of making them fit in a a scheme. Lets face it Belichick is a heck of coach and he has Tom Brady! When Tom goes I expect Belichick to retire.

PS
Belichick goes for the NEED not BPA.

This is true...and when Brady get injured and they put it in Joe blow, they don't miss a beat. I really have never figured it out...

That's not an original Patriots model, why do you give Belichick credit for it? He was smart enough to barrow ideas from several smart football minds that came before him, include Tom Landry and Jimmy Johnson.. You must not be old enough to remember when the Cowboys dominated the NFL. Remember, before the Pats won 3 SBs in 4 years, the Cowboys did it first. There is nothing wrong with barrowing proven ideas to better yourself.

No, Belichick trades until his value at need matches BPA.
Need and BPA don't need to be exclusive.

Also...where is the quote that says we are trying be mimic New England?
I ask because I saw another thread saying this too.

Belichick is probably the best coach in the NFL. Yeah, I said it.

Also, having Tom Brady doesn't hurt.

on the contrary. the moves they make puts them in position to maneuver around pick the BPA for their needs. they actually aren't that good in drafting or really much better than the rest of the league, but what they do is accumulate lots of picks and throw numbers at their problems and their philosophy is the more I pick the better chance of hitting on a pick I have.

compare that to ravens, who are very methodical in their approach in making safe picks, and build inside out. both work pretty well. you have to admit most of NE success is to brady and then bilicheck.

Yeah but you don't play weak divisions in January...

True but it gets you to January and that is where you get your shot. It's just like the 49ers of old. They played in the weak NFC West. Think, they win at least 5 out of their 6 division games every season. That's a big advantage.

Yup, NE wins. Following the gold standard is how you should do it.

The NE Patriots are simply mimicking the Cowboys of the 70's.

They do pick the BPA.

They do have a system.

Their not-so-secret approach is all about value. They always look at transactions in terms of value. They have never believed that you get good value at the top of the 1st round of the draft. This was particularly true before the rookie salary cap. One of their biggest strategies was trading their 1st round pick for additional picks that include a 1st round pick the following year.

Case in point, from 2009 to 2014, six drafts, they have had 13 2nd round picks and 8 3rd round picks. As previously mentioned they use a "saturation" approach.
