Why we are trying to be like NE

And thats why the Pats only have ONE SB win in about 10 years

That or it's just REALLY hard to win a Superbowl in general.

32 teams. League enforced parity via draft ordering, free agency, salary cap, etc.

Every team starts with a %3.1 of winning the Superbowl each season.

I hate the Patriots with a passion but the fact that they've made it to 6 Superbowls and won 4 of them in a 14-15 year period given everything I mentioned is beyond amazing and I tip my hat to them.

Only team that comes to mind as having a better run are the 1960s Packers who won 5 Championships/Superbowls in 7 years.

Because NE WINS, it is not a hard conclusion to make. Now why does NE have winning ways? Belichick gets rid of older players when they get expensive by getting other teams high draft choices and building good foundations. It helps that he is a good teacher and he builds around the players instead of making them fit in a a scheme. Lets face it Belichick is a heck of coach and he has Tom Brady! When Tom goes I expect Belichick to retire.

PS
Belichick goes for the NEED not BPA.

I do not want NE's drafting prowess.

I would put up the Cowboy's last few drafts vs New England's last few and Dallas would come out on top every time.

Whats wrong with trying to be like one of the best franchises in football? They are relevant every year. You know every year for sure they will be in the playoffs. Thats how I want people to think of the cowboys.

They also cheat. They have now been caught twice and the league just put in a new rule to stop whatever they were doing with their subs and formations. Who knows what else they are doing? I've got no respect for them. All their recent Super Bowls are tainted in my mind. They act as if the rules dont apply to them and seem to be willing to take whatever punishment the get if they get caught. No on will ever convince me that they weren't and aren't still cheating on a regular basis.

I agree with most all of this post- except... the Patriots do have a good track record of bringing in BPA guys when addressing need. They pick up players that were high draftpicks or had bigtime potential elsewhere but a team soured on them or they haven't lived up to expectations. I'm hoping the McFadden signing will be fruitful in that way. Garret/Romo is the core here, not unlike Belicheck/Brady. When you have that type of combo, you can address need in such ways and enjoy the successes it often brings (cheap, albeit short-lived).

awesome story

By George I think this post gets it! Moral of story is in three weeks the draft begins and you see mock draft boards going are over the place. I want to bring your attention to the Green Bay game this year when a one leg Quarterback beat the Cowboys. When this happens the fault lies with a DL that should have been dismissed at the end of the season with a message on the door " Please don't let the door hit you in the arse on the way out". Now back to the draft what in the world do the Cowboys need in the draft to further their goal of reaching the Superbowl? We should borough a page from NEs drafting book.

Only?

Obviously, you are not troubled by intellectual dishonesty.

They have played in 6 of the last 14 Super Bowls, winning 4 of them.

They have had 14 consecutive winning seasons.

They have won 12 or more regular season games 9 of the last 12 seasons.

In 14 seasons they have played in 29 playoff games, they are 21-8.

New England would never have let Murray go without trading him first.. huge error by the front office.

I think the big takeaway from NE is that their defense is always greater than the sum of its parts. Dallas nailed that this past year...and if they can keep doing that with a guy like Hardy in the mix...I like.

It's not dishonest at all

They have 1 Super Bowl title in the last 10 years

The NYG and the Steelers have 2

SEA has been to 3 winning one

NE is a very good team, but they should not have won the SB last year. They got a huge break against SEA and should've never got past BAL except for a few shady plays. They won so you can't take it from them, but they aren't the same team from the early aughts.
