Uhhh Waters didn't want to be in camp. Simple as that. Jerrah could either say okay then we're not signing you or agree to wait on him. The Patriots waited on him and went to the Super Bowl.

So we did exactly what the Patriots did. It was the only way to get him.

It's simple. What's your theory - it never dawned on Jerrah that it would be better if Waters was here two weeks ago and if only he asked you he coulda known that?

What the Patriots did is of no consequence. One does not equal the other.

My theory is simple. Pay the man his money and get his butt in if for no other reason than to get his wind and be ready for the first game of the year.

Jerry is a pretty tough negotiator. If he is really all in, I think this guy would have been with the team several weeks ago.

Huh? Jerrah is not all in? That's your theory? Lol

What the Patriots did is of consequence because it's proof Waters can get ready quick without camp and be highly effective from the getgo.

There is a cap you know that even Jerrah has to obey.

Bottom line is Waters is here. I'm not sure he wont actually play Sunday but even if he doesn't, having him here for 15 games plus postseason at a reasonable incentive laden salary is a brilliant move and worth any concessions.

You're welcome to sit there with your arms folded looking for things to complain about though

What one team does in a season that is not this season has no bearing on this coming season. You cannot make that argument in any fashion.

Believe me, I wish you could.

Unfortunately for you, I am not complaining. I am stating facts.

Why was this guy not here two weeks ago. Three weeks ago?

I have yet to see any answer that addresses that question.

I think Waters will improve this line, but if the answer is Free back to tackle, then how will that end up? Seems most here forgot their gripes about Free because the season is about to start.

Hey, I am excited as well. But waters doesn't solve all the issues that this team still has.

Prediction fulfilled.

Here is the question you dreamers need to ask yourself. Since Jerry signed him before the first game, his salary is guaranteed. Is it not?

So why not get him into camp two weeks ago and shake off the rust when it didn't count?

Just give me an answer that makes sense.

The guy didn't want to sign. He didn't want to travel for preseason games. He didn't want to go through dress rehearsals. He wanted to spend more time with his family.

What about any of that doesn't make sense to you?

Can you quote all the people that said signing Waters fixes all the issues this team has? Or are you just making things up?

Arguing against strawmen is pretty easy.

Lol you not accepting an explanation and it not being a logical one are two different things. Then you go on to complain about other things not posited in your original question/complaint.

Like I said think what you want I honestly don't care. And think you know more than people who do this for a living and were involved in the process. Again, don't care.

Have a good night

We needed Waters more than he needed us. We didn't have a bargaining position. I would have done the same thing.

Lol, because all of our life problems aren't solved we can't have joy about a huge signing for our team on a spot that every Cowboy fan has been frustrated with.

Okay... Sometimes I wonder how much negativity some of you carry in your real life.

Yeah we aren't as stacked as the 49ers or Seahawks, but we can damn well beat them any given Sunday. Consider that the 49ers don't even have a 2nd wideout, every team has issues. We are lucky to be a team that has a lot going for it.

I don't see why anyone would be mad at this signing. I'm not expecting Pro-Bowl Brian Waters, but as long as we get a version that is better than what we currently have on O-line, this is a great move.

This is where people read the Cowboys wrong. They look at contracts like what was given to Ratliff, Scandrick, etc., and complain about Dallas overpaying players.

If you look at the age of the player they are paying and what similar players receive through free agency, it's easy to see that Dallas puts a market value on that player (what it believes he would receive from another team) and negotiates to keep the player's salary within that value and structure the contract so that it isn't hogtied by the deal.

Dallas likely had a number in mind for signing Waters and refused to go above that number, which is how it needs to negotiate. (A good example of this is Anthony Spencer. The Cowboys would rather pay him franchise money for another year than hamper themselves with the kind of contract he's demanding.)

Being all in doesn't mean disregarding cap implications. If you want to be able to move money around to keep your players and add others, you can't just give in to any demands.

Anxiously waiting for some realist posts to set the excitement straight.

There has to be something wrong here

The realists (myself included) were the one's shouting to sign Waters a long time ago, some (I forget which poster) were calling for this 2 years ago. The people that said that our oline was "fine" are the one's that you'll probably hear the negativity from.

He's got skills at avoiding training camp he had everyone convinced he was retired a few weeks ago. Hopefully his football skills haven't declined to much he's a great signing if he can still play

Most of the people who say the OL wasn't a disaster are still going to be in favor of seeing it improved by a street free agent signing. Just sayin'. Positive posters rarely get down on the team for trying to improve its roster.

I'm a hard-as-nails realist. But yes I'm excited about this deal and what it means not only for our starting line, but the extra body it provides for depth. Go Cowboys!

Alright, I'll be negative.

Why couldn't this have happened yesterday before my fantasy draft? Murray was there in rd 4 and I took Lacy.

Now Murray is likely to cost me the championship. Jerry fn Jones

The difference in physicality between this year's interior line and last year's middle should be as glaring a difference as there is in any unit in the NFL this year. There's youth (Fredrick and Leary) and rust (Waters) so everything won't be roses and daffodils out there, but constantly having no pocket and no push from the interior should go the way of the dinosaur this season. Tony's going to feel like he woke up in someone else's bed. This should be fun to watch.

Nope. You're thinking wrong.
