whatever we get from Waters will be better than what we have, whether that be for a few games or if he lasts for all games including the playoffs. I am equally stoked about his experience next to the youngens, they HAVE to benefit from his style of play....last year, we have Smith at LT and Free at RT and the interior was a bunch of cream puffs for the most part (Livings did ok); now, we potentially have 3 tough, hard-nosed players on the interior. Gotta love it.

Not complaining, but I believe with incentives his number could be $3M.

What the Patriots did is of no consequence. One does not equal the other.

My theory is simple. Pay the man his money and get his butt in if for no other reason than to get his wind and be ready for the first game of the year.

Jerry is a pretty tough negotiator. If he is really all in, I think this guy would have been with the team several weeks ago.

It's kind of irrelevant. He's here now. I suspect the timing is nothing more than a guy at the end of his career and his allergies toward training camp.

I'd be more worried about the year off. If he's got anything left it's a huge upgrade.

actually that is nothing. The man has been playing guard for HOW LONG? Its not like he is a QB having to worry about timing and so on.

And 18 months wihtout getting hit means he is in probably better physical condition then since he was much younger. No pounding, etc.

Fresh legs and body.

I think we are 2 years too late, but he can't be worse than Berny.

You never know when a guy physically can't do it anymore. Taking a year off at his age makes you wonder what he has left.

no it does not since we know why he did what he did. That is easy to find out if you bother.

Quite honestly at this point it is a mystery if he can still play at a decently high level or not. Being off 18 months and pretty much retiring in your head could make some one really slack off and get out of shape. I seriously doubt he is in good shape and we are just bringing him in for depth and it will take him some time to get into playing shape.

not surprised you and risen missed all the comments about how good a shape he was in. From several sources. Not surprised at all.

18 months is an eternity in the NFL. That is like half the average playing career.

I'll be cautiously optimistic over this.

wow. So if he had been off for a year with an injury it would be better?

Cannot believe some people here- cannot see the trees for the forest.

18 months of not getting hit and so on. So now that is a bad thing?

Guys can be in great shape and still not be in football shape.

If you are in great shape then football shape is not a big step. You do know he did the same thing in 2011? waited until after camp, signed on Sept 4 and was playing at a PRO BOWL LEVEL one week later. So he has been there and done that. People that bothered to do a little research on this guy realize that.

Still not excited. Though, I'm not usually a fan of players who are over a year removed from football.

Want it to work out though, and if it does, we got him at a bargain. Not going to be in the Giants game though, and we really need to win that.
