The definition of madness is resigning the same players from a defense that struggled keeping offenses from scoring yet expecting a different result.

If you want to get better, try something different.
I agree but Wilcox wasn't the problem last year

Are you ever not on Twitter? Didn't want to lose he and Church. Wilcox played decent this year and was big hitter.

He did blow up a few guys. That element will be missed. Heath seems like more of a play maker though. I hope he continues to improve otherwise we are most definitely looking at our new wupping boy.

Training 'em for the streets...sux to see players you've invested in and shown patience with (even through serious criticism) only to see the bolt to pay dividends elsewhere...especially when their still young and, in theory, peaking. If you're not going to be a player in free agency then signing your own (homegrown) drafted talent needs to be a priority. And while I was never a huge fan of Wilcox's play in the secondary in past years, it was clear his light bulb came on this season and he was seemingly poised to take the next step. If you let Church walk (understandable decision), then I am not sure how keeping Wilcox isn't part of the contingency plan. If the fall back is Heath and Frazier then I am more than worried.

Bucs signed FS J.J. Wilcox, formerly of the Cowboys, to a two-year contract.

The deal is reportedly worth "up to $8.5 million." A third-round pick in 2013, Wilcox only started four games last season but had his best year as a pro. Bringing in Wilcox likely means Tampa Bay is moving on from free agent Bradley McDougald.

Interesting that they view him as a FS and not SS.

It appears that McClay might be eliminating all of Chidikowski's work.
