I am not starting this thread to beat a dead horse. This topic has been discussed ad nauseum. The reason why I am posting this is because 1) its the offseason and its slow and 2) it is a bit of an update in the sense that the writer mentioned that of the people he spoke with, they believe owens will not be around. I get the feeling im going to get hammered for this post - but I promise im just trying to help the board.

1. Will the Cowboys dump Terrell Owens?

For a story about T.O., this one is surprisingly slipping under the radar. Most plugged-in minds I spoke with in Tampa believe that Owens will be jettisoned before next season. Giving up on big-name talent goes against Jerry Jones' nature, especially with a new stadium opening, but the Dallas collapse in '08 has repercussions on the way.

The prevailing logic is that both Owens and offensive coordinator Jason Garrett cannot return together. Garrett never landed the head coaching job he was seeking, and something looks ready to give in Dallas. Perhaps Roy Williams will take over Owens' position sooner than we imagined.

The way Adam Schefter and Jay Glazer were talking, it sounded like the Cowboys were being pretty open and honest at the senior bowl. I mean, other coaches were apparently talking to Dallas coaches about what they would do if TO was available...

If this one is flying under the radar then I'd hate to see this place when it isn't.
Every one of Bleu's posts would be :banjo:

But wait....

The reason it's "gone under the radar" is the story is a load of crap.

There is no logical reason to cut him. There would be no cap savings (it would actually hinder their cap to release him) and he's still a top player.

Technically, they save 600,000 if they cut him... I agree that seems like nothing given he will count 9mil (or more) whether he stays or goes.

I think they have to wait, officially, until June due to the way his contract is written. Otherwise, the cap hit is larger.

He's really NOT a top player anymore. He had a pretty average season if you ask me.

Oh no, that's right ... I fugget. Romo was injured. So that hurt TO's production.

improving team chemistry IS a logical reason to cut him

And that is what?

If they are underacheiving the should be cut before a guy that still produces at a high level.

No, they lose 600 thousand on top of the 9 million contract. Dallas would lose almost 10 million by cutting Owens. That is a lot of money to pay a guy not playing for you.

Terrell Owens is going to be a Dallas Cowboy in 2009.

However, I believe he should be cut as he is "part" of the four-headed monster that is holding this franchise back.

Besides, not only will Jerry Jones have to eat $9.6 Million, Jerry Jones will have forgoe his cameo on Terrell Owens' Reality TV Show and Jerry Jones will never pass up an opportunity like that.

My bad. I was too lazy to research. Maybe I can get a job at ESPN.

But hey, if you're spending 9mil for a circus clown, what's another 600 g's to get rid of him?
