Will failed trade light a fire?

Willing to part with a number one pick to get a safety should be a wake up call for our secondary, it should also be a wake up call for Richard. Jobs are on the line and they know it. The question is, how will they respond? Heath plays hard, I really don't think he can get any better. He is what he is, can Richard coach him up anymore or has he hit his ceiling.

Isn’t this more of a shot over Xavier Woods bow? Heath is what he is. They need to give Wilson some reps...

What if he's worse? I am really not qualified to judge coaching but I do assume they all play the best player based on his skill level including the mental aspect of the position.

Perhaps but he got a lot of picks in Preseason, we need a spark out there...

I'll believe that jobs are on the line when Garrett gets the axe. Anyone else is just a scapegoat in my book...

I think Heath is already giving 100% of what he is capable of. I don't think anybody here on CZ questions that.

It's just that Jeff Heath at 100% is still a bottom 25% starting safety in the NFL.

Time for him to give 200%! Let's go!

This is amazing. Since Rod has been here it is very clear Dallas does not value the 1T DL or S positions. This draft is a perfect example. At 60 Dallas was well positioned to draft several starting quality S's. Instead they pick a work out warrior, unproven DT that can't even suit up on Sundays. We hear all summer about this guy's "explosive get off." More lies. They also could have made a move on ET. That contract is ridiculous but they never seemed to be engaged with him despite his obvious desire to play in Dallas. So they have a 6th rounder and a UFA at the starting S's. They don't seem to care unless max embarrassment has happened. Heath is embarrassing for sure but not max embarrassing yet.

How long are we all going to complain about the S position?

Kick the tires on Eric Berry.

I hope it changes how they prioritize their draft process. You would think/hope after offering quality picks for Earl Thomas and Jamal Adams that they will be willing to allocate the same resources to an actual draft.

I don't think any fires been lit.

I don't have a problem with Heath and no one should really...it's not his fault DAL extended his contract, and never acquired a S better than him. I fault the overall philosophy of the position by the team.

2¢: hope you like this lineup...
CB - Chido
CB - Lewis
SS - Wilson
FS - Woods

Because these are the only DBs signed up for the 2020 season.

It is disappointing the Adams deal did not get done. He would have been a huge upgrade. Don’t see any “fires being lit” by the failed trade...

That said— I do think the Defense plays better going fwd. The Philly game was a complete game— and the addition of Bennett is a very underrated move IMO.

Putting him into the passrush rotation will really affect the way team’s can scheme us because he can really push the pocket from inside.

I expect that the secondary play looks better because the passrush is going to be better— particularly up the middle.
