were getting close to him coming off of IR (right?). Do you think he will actually show something over the 2nd half of the year? He’s another weapon, and should be a serviceable blocker when in. I don’t have expectations one way or another, but just remembered he should be back soon.

Guess we'll find out soon if that concussion was that severe or not. I think it was.

Unless we release Blake, we would have 5 TEs and 5 RBs if we promote Rico. So, definitely would be heavy on offense if he comes back this year.

As for him being a factor, I'm not sure. Doubt they'll take Witten out enough

I hope they are considering moving on. The experiments dont work all the time we have to find the next starting te. Its just time to start getting someone reliable. Rico is taking to long to recover, if the reports are true let him walk and enjoy life.

I am sure the reports are over exaggerated but nobody knows.

Regardless...what benefit is it to move on right now? We spent a sixth round pick on him, we have him for two more years. There is nothing wrong with taking him to camp next year to compete.

It doesn’t matter who the backup tight ends are on this roster as long as Witten is here anyways.

What reports are there recently? I haven’t been following because I forgot about him.

Is he still said to be recovering or is his absence just a product of not being able to return due to being IR’d

The reports I've seen are that while he's working with strength and conditizoning coaches, he has yet to return to any practice.

And, as the team currently has 4TE's on the 53-man roster already, unless circumstances change significantly, I don't expect much, if any, impact from Rico, if even for him to make it to the main roster.

Looking like yet another "redshirt year". And I've seen more than enough of those lately.

He has to get back in shape per Garrett. Don't expect to see him until 2018.

Only benifit is moving forward. If this guy legitimately had that severe of a concussion he probably needs to retire.

Why not take anyone that can catch a ball? Why, because dallas has got to get rid of the mediocrity around here. There way of, hey guys these expeeiments are like super duper cool. No, first round picks are for studs, not measurements, your stars are aging and nedds to have replacements ready to go.

Time for this team to start cutting and bringing in players that want to be on the field.

Folks make too much of him "still being in the concussion protocol" bit.

You have to practice to get out of the protocol. He wasn't eligible to do so until recently.

This is more about not using a roster spot on a guy who won't play.

As of right now I have zero hope for Rico playing and producing. So far he has only been a practice player and until he proves otherwise, I will not spend time thinking about what he could do.

That’s up to him.

I still don’t think it’s that serious. The team has to give the impression it’s serious due to league rules. He was celebrating making the team and he told reporters he was good prior to the last preseason game.

Nope, never was going to be... Can't block.
He's a matchup nightmare. I'm not sure he can't block. What does it take to block versus what does it take to be a 6'7 290lbs guy with good speed, lateral movement and hands? He can learn to block. It's technique and desire...

He's being redshirted but did suffer from a serious concussion. It's really in the air at this point but I do believe Dallas is taking it as a chance to keep a guy they believe isn't ready to play at the moment.

Most likely, it will be next season before we see if Rico can contribute. If not, he will be let go. I believe this is GOATs last season.
