Will Romo want to play if Dak rests?

Romo might light it up. Bad for business in an odd way. I don't think the coaches know what they want to do right now.

I don't know about that cause I doubt he would have the full offense but I do think he would seriously torch some teams if he did.

First, I don't know if I'm a fan of resting a rookie QB. I think he needs all the experience he can get. But IF we continue winning and do get the opportunity to rest some of our players down the stretch, would Romo want to play?

I understand he WOULD play. I'm just wondering what his mentality would be towards it. My gut says he's so competitive that he would. I think he'd want to remind everyone he can still play...even if he's auditioning for another team next year.
As if Romo has a choice?
Heck, Sanchez needs the reps, too, chaps!

I'd be shocked if he didn't want to play.

I won't be surprised if we need Tony to come off the bench a WIn a few games now-SuperBowl. DAK has not played his best games the last 2 weeks. Tony's experience recognizing defenses and getting the ball downfield is exactly was this offense is lacking the past 2 weeks.

He will play, for his good and more importantly for the Cowboys good, teams would be able to see he is still an elite QB and his value will skyrocket in the off season.
Yes, good lad.
I imagine many teams want a 37-year-old who is skeletally fragile. And expensive.
Only Cleveland will bite! LOL

Good point. Whether to risk upsetting the momentum we have going right now or afford Dak some rest to keep him healthy and physically fit for the games that remain will be a decision to be forthcoming by the staff and FO.

Perhaps they'll decide to give Romo enough reps to ensure his ongoing readiness in the event he's needed in the playoffs. Conversely, they might not want to interrupt Dak's ongoing progress and the momentum that's presently being enjoyed.

That choice will certainly be one that remains to be made by the powers that be. In any case, it should make for an intriguing decision.

I'm sure he would want to. But this is also his job that he gets paid for, so it's sort of his duty to do what is asked.

Do NOT rest players. We learned our lesson in 2007.

We play until the end. Do NOT rest players !!!

With all due respect, this is like the hundredth time some form of this thread has been made, and the answer is still the same. One, there is likely no way Dak rests, even if the team clinches a bye week. Two, it doesn't matter if Tony would want to do cleanup or not. He's the backup QB, and I doubt he wouldn't want to anyway.

If you're going to rest Dak then you're going to rest most of the starters. I don't know what good it would do to put Tony in. Taking a chance he gets hurt. I'm for playing every game like it's a playoff game. This team hasn't done anything in 20 years. In 2007 the team started to take it easy and look how that turned out.

I am not a fan of resting Dak or any rookie QB. I think they need to play, espeically given that Dak has been struggling, he needs to work through it. But to answer the question, yes, Tony would want to play. As much as he says he is good to go, in the best shape, etc, until he get hits, he and the world will not know if he can be hit. He has to have some doubts as much as any of us do. He wants to play, he wants to audition for his future team and at the same time, help this team win some games. I do not think the coaches will allow him to play, what if he comes in an lights it up and shows he is the Romo of past. And then we lose in the NFC Championship game and Romo is on the bench.. now Jerry might overrule them so he can start the bidding for Romo. IT will be interesting.

And if Romo should get hurt again, its retirement time, no if or buts about it.

Idk, what if Tony does come in and plays very well, and then you have a struggling Dak in a playoff game? Does that make the leash shorter?
