Will Trey Lance get significant snaps in 2023? Count me with those who think so

Hey Stash, I am hoping the guy does great as I always do for any Cowboy player, but I have not seen it on the field when it comes to Lance. I really do hope I am wrong, but the proof is not out there.......yet.

I do however think that he is an upgrade from Greer even if the upgrade percentage is minimal at this point.
I’m pretty close to where you are. But the point is that none of us has seen very much of him. I think the Cowboys are very much banking on the idea that San Francisco gave up on him much too soon.

If we are way ahead or behind, I don't see why you wouldn't put the kid in
Rush doesn't need the work

Heard the same thing you did.

My take is that Jerry was being truthful.

My take... now that we know he basically made a point-of-sale purchase like many of us normal people do when we pick up a candy bar standing in line to check out... is that Jerry didn't really think it all through at the time, and he also now doesn't want to set expectations up so that he's held accountable for what productivity Lance supplies to the 2023 season.

My take is that, once McCarthy gets some time with Lance and gets comfortable with him (or not), McCarthy will be the one who determines whether Lance gets any opportunity to contribute in 2023.

My take is that Lance is too good of a rushing asset to not get used. He's not at Lamar Jackson's level as a runner. Yet. That he plausibly could be? Compelling. Too compelling.
I respect your opinion but I disagree. I think they realize that they traded for a project and intend to treat him like one.

Personally, I’m more curious as to whether or not - despite what the Joneses say publicly - this has anything to do with Prescott and any potential new contract.

Speculation on my part, but seems to me we should look for Lance to get some short yardage duty with regularity.

And too, I think this probably makes certain that McKeon makes the team, and will line-up with some regularity as a backfield blocker.
I think Trey Should be handled with care.

Dude got beat out by Sam Darnold…Sam Darnold!
No, that just shows SF doesn't know what they are doing. :muttley::popcorn:

Jimmy G plays in a SB for them, they don't want to give him a new contract, and eventually he leaves via FA.
As the drafted Lance to be the future QB. But he gets injured in his 1st game.
So it is back to Jimmy G, who then gets injured. So they go to Purdy, who wins with a great defense and a lot of surrounding help.

They still do not know if Purdy is the answer. But they have another cheap QB for another 3 years to decide.
I bet they draft a QB in 2024.

Both the QB1 AND the QB2 would have to be either injured and not able to return or disqualified because they were ejected before you can bring in the “3rd” QB that is on the 53 man roster, but not on the 48 man game roster. And once that QB3 enters the game QB1 and QB2 may not return.
Everything you say is correct except if either QB1 or QB2 are medically cleared to return to the game, the emergency QB (QB3) must be removed from the contest (only to return if the first two QBs are again made unavailable.)

For reals. Surprising so many are excited about a 2 year veteran 3rd overall draft pick who couldn't even beat out another 3rd overall draft pick veteran journeyman bust Sam Darnold for the backup role at San Francisco.

I’d guess TL is ready by week 8.
Ready for what?

It won't be ready to play that's for sure. A guy who couldn't beat out Darnold for a backup QB job isn't coming to Dallas and in two months and even be ready to take over for Rush.

Some of you guys might hate me for saying this but here goes…..this is how I see things play out with this new QB addition of yours…

I interpret Dallas trading for Lance in this regard....

Your boy Dak is now under a huge microscope...his job as Dallas QB is no longer a given. He led the league in interceptions last year, and he even missed 5 games, and two years in a row he has laid an egg in the playoffs. He is not popular on Cowboys message boards and many want him gone. I think Jerry and Son are now listening. Not to mention he has some health baggage and a huge salary. If Lance is just as good and comes much cheaper, why not trade Dak and get something back And save cap space?

My forecast: I think Dak could possibly be traded at this year’s trade deadline but more likely during the off-season ESPECIALLY if he disappoints again in the playoffs. I think Dallas is high on Lance, and that is why they traded for him, and are now seeing him as the next man up should they not like what they are seeing this season from Dak. Obviously, next man up is not Cooper Rush, no disrespect Intended, because he is a very capable back up. And it goes without saying, if Dak shines and is not responsible for any playoff loss, he probably stays at the helm.

You are now officially put on notice Dak….being a Cowboy is a privilege and must be earned. We hope you become the man we are paying you to be, but are now prepared to look elsewhere. The ball is in your hands (but it’s okay to toss a stinker when you play the NY football Giants).
Dak is getting an extension. There's no point in even thinking about any of this nonsense.

Maybe if Dak gets hurt and Rush sucks then Trey will play. Season will probably be over by then.

A) There is no need to have more of a rushing threat at QB
B) Comparing him to Lamar Jackson is ridiculous

I don't, at all, understand your desire to find a way to get him on the field. If you want to run a bunch of wildcat, just use a RB

Lance might start week 17/18 if Dallas has already clinched or is mathematically eliminated. Otherwise, he'll never see the field.

It has nothing to do with Dak's contract.

..if Dallas is up 51-3 by 4th qtr. I'd say put him in. ;)..
He would have to be on the 48 man game day roster in order for him to play without injuries of QB1 and QB2. Ain't gonna happen
