Perhaps stuff like this is why.

Sorry, I just happen to think he is right. I also think the fans have a right to expect more of him.

In addition to this thread, currently on Page 1 of this forum alone. There are 5 more in the Daily Zone counting one with the same first article.

He is the new Quincy Carter of this team. Everything said about him positive or negative will illicit a reactionary response.

Maybe Roy forgot what year this is. Maybe he thought is was playing with the 1986-1990 Cowboys where the fans didn't expect much. Excuse me while I go get my Roy Williams tissue box.....

does he need to have 100 tackles and 6 picks for him to play like his old self ? I don't understand where your coming from if we get anything more from this man he will prob be missing a liver.

To bad its not that simple and people have the ability to watch the games.

If you havent noticed a difference in the guys play then you must have not been watching games when we were bad and he was more than amazing.

Then why acted shocked that he feels it when we can clearly see it? I try and stay out of these threads any more. In fact if you look at the links I provided you'll find that I responded in exactly one of them, the one about a chopper and I talked about motorcycles and hot rods, not Roy.

A guy who provides more useful info than almost anyone has "lost respect" because he sees Roy differently and defends him.

Yeah, that makes sense.

When people suggest that Roy should take some steroids to regain his lost edge, it's past the point of ridiculous.

A safer route would to just let my mother-in-law move in with him. I could use the break, lol

I am not looking for stats. Stats are overrated to me. Just watch the games. He does not look like the pilot light is lit sometimes and you cant play in this league just going through the motions. He doesnt seem to attack the line of scrimmage like he used to. Plaxico burress and the giants called him out each of the last 5 times we have played them. Burress and toomer tell reporters right out all we have to do is throw at 35 and 31. That should ignite him.

I would like to see the guy who in the preseason in 06 didnt like what the texans were saying to him from the sideline and then warned them him and davis proceeded to start knocking people all over the place. That is the guy we need at that spot.

I am hoping he is a big part of a butt kicking game dictating defense. in the month of december that is what we looked like. I hope that carries over.

Who are you to demand anything? How dare you ask that of him, he's a human being. If he doesn't feel like performing to the style you want you turn your back? What kind of person are you?

You should expect more. I expect more out of the "stars" than I do the role players.

If it were Keith Davis making mistakes, pointing fingers and questioning the loyalties of the fans, do you honestly think for one minute there would be anyone defending him?

I don't think you should lower your expectations. I think you should raise them. I just think expressing shock (for lack of a better word) that Roy feels the fan's anger towards him is a bit odd.

Why pretend it doesn't exist? That's the only thing I am saying and already 3 of you are pissed off (for lack of a better phrase) that I dared to say it.

Brad Sham had one of the greatest commentaries on this type of thing I have ever heard.

In December of 03 when we started sliding and talk radio and the internet started to blame it all on hambrick and carter, sham said during the broadcast "You cant blame Quincy Carter and Troy Hambrick for being Quincy Carter and Troy Hambrick".

That is pretty much it. Roy is an outstanding player and needs to go back to that level because unlike hambrick etc...when roy plays average it is noticeable because he has shown his brilliance in the past.

How ironic that you should say this.

Perhaps now you can separate what I am saying (that he feels that way because it exists) from what you want me to be saying (that he has no flaws, something I have never even remotely suggested).

I'm a bit surprised that one of the main tidbits of news in that article isn't being discussed more.

Roy missed 2 days of teaching sessions, as the priority was something else. Hence a sitdown was called with him (the Ellis comments were also a factor). Now on the one hand we have a person saying they aren't comfortable in the defense, and on the other we have someone skipping 2 days of teaching sessions. Oh boy!

This is interesting in itself. If Romo didn't show for 2 meetings, or if Ware didn't show for 2 meetings, I think this would be pretty big news (of course, if it got out). But expectations for Roy certainly seem to have fallen.

I think that is a confirmation sign that the football side of things isn't as high a priority as the other things. This is Roy's choice of course, and his right. His employer and Football fans might not like it, but charitable work is at least a good thing to do.

Now as a guy worried about his play on the field, and subconscious or even conscious attitude, this adds fuel to the fire that this isn't the same player of years ago.

Hos, why do you only support me when the going is good, and unleash these horrible negative personal attacks like above during bad times? ;)

He's a victim of his past success, no question about it. You can't help but look at his rookie brilliance and not get excited. But the further away that becomes the less likely it is that it will ever return.

What we have now might be as good as it gets. But we should all be happy with that, at least he probably thinks so.

 :hammer:

Roy Williams used to make me want to put on a #31 jersey and wait for people behind aisles at Walmart and just tackle them.

Now I just want to hand out coupons.

No I am not ticked off or anything. I can see the williams debate both ways. I happen to think some of the well thought out negative posts on roy are accurate and the well thought out defending of roy is accurate.

Personally, I dont have a problem with roy getting beat when he is split out against cooley, shockey, westbrook etc.. He is in over his head just as any other ss would be.

I just dont like the attitude change that has gone from noticeable from common fans to die hard fans to the media and now apparently to his teammates in the locker room.

Part of the perception of roy that has been created by the media, particularly Tom Jackson at espn, Keyshawn and salisbury is what scares me about this team being on hard knocks. Once it sets in it is in and nothing can change it, except a big play in a super bowl. that is a sad commentary on the media and the common fan but it is what it is. Look at romo. Until he wins a super bowl he will never get the girl who I will not name monkey off his back. No matter how well or poor he plays. Some of the best journalists in the country use romo and the girl I wont name as a punchline.

Reading the detroit red wings columnists this week they have repeatedly brought up the girl I wont name and asked if her curse works on the stars too. Its sad. Perception is reality. I feel bad for romo. They were dying to find a reason to attack him and they have it now. The national media will never let that die.

Anyway, that is what has happened to roy. I just wish he wouldnt lump all the fans in one pot, because like I said in the stadium he is still loved, he is repeatedly voted into the pro bowl, he is on the cover of the programs at least once and he is still on billboards all over the metroplex. So I cant see how after all that support he gets upset over some less than important complaining.

You seem to be debating something here that isn't even part of the equation.

I won't deny the fact he feels the criticism. He's not quite that unintelligent. In fact, he's one of the most hyper-sensitive Cowboy players of all time. Why would it be shocking that he feels it? Someone could look at him strange and he'd react.

Think back to his temper tantrum with Jean-Jacques Taylor a few years ago. This is not a new thing. I know I am not shocked at all. It is what he does.
