McGinest.....how old is this guy? He may help us a great deal!
Galian Beast said:That honestly makes me sad. I was so looking forward to see the double sided pass rush of McGinest and Ware
:crossed: Keep your fingers crossed. This would be a great pickup. Sure its a short term fix but with a first round LB this year we'll have a very young LB core. Some experience/leadership (not to mention top-tier play) in their would be great.WoodysGirl said:Cowboys | Team will pursue McGinest

The Boston Globe reports league sources said the Dallas Cowboys will be one of the teams that will pursue free agent LB Willie McGinest (Patriots).
NYCowboy22 said:I like Mcginest but he isn't worth getting into a bid war over. There are a lot of talented LB's that could step in from day one in this draft. I would only support signing him if the price was right. Anyone know what his cap figure for this coming year was?
Yakuza Rich said:Well, I doubt that there will be a big bidding war. The Pats just cut him and can try to re-sign him, but chances are they'll bid lower than a team that wants his services.
He's best suited at 3-4 OLB, so the other teams that play the 3-4 are:
1. SF - Possibility, but I don't think he wants to play for a team that bad.
2. Cleveland - See above
3. NY Jets - doubt they have cap room
4. Miami - don't think they have cap room and Saban wants younger defensive players.
5. SD - With Merriman and Foley, they don't need him.
6. Pittsburgh - No need for him.
I think Dallas is the clear frontrunner for his services right now.

Agreed. If a bidding war occurs, its between Cleveland and Dallas.MrMom said:Don't forget the Romeo factor. Plus they have a lot of money to spend.

Yakuza Rich said:Say what you will about his age, but since 1999 he's only missed 9 games. And he's averaged 0.46 sacks per game. That's an average of 7.38 sacks per 16 games since 1999.
For his career he's averaged 0.46 sacks per game as well.
He also has the record for most sacks in one postseason game, against Jacksonville this past year.
If they draft a OLB alongside of him, I have no problem with them signing McGinest.
