they said mine were growing in but i didn't have room, so they cut them out. this was ten years ago and apparently my doc was awesome cause i had very little pain, swelling for only three days, bruising for 5 and little to no oozing. all i got was 800 mg ibuprofen. many of the people i have come across that have had them removed had much worse experiences than i did so I'm lucky i guess.

They cut mine out pretty damn quick.

Gave me enough real pain meds to last half as long I should have had them. I had to ration them ****s so the mornings wouldn't suck so much.

i have never had anything other than penicillin that cant be bought over the counter, i was real surprised the ibuprofen was sufficient

I was lit from the word go.

I hate needles with a passion and told them that so they gave me something to take prior to getting there. It loosened me up like no tomorrow. They said count back from 10 and I remember saying 8.

I also remember getting stood up and taken to the little recovery room before going home. Remember pretty much all of it except for the time between 8 and standing up.

My experience wasn't so good...

They didn't have the right mixture of gas so I felt a lot of it... and it wasn't pretty...

They finally decided to put me out and that made it better... but I still remember the pain...

When I had two of my teeth pulled before I got braces I know they didn't inject enough numbing medication. The pain was unreal. It may as well have been someone just pulling my teeth out with a pair of pliers because that's what it was. The idiot dentist even called me on the phone that evening to see if I was OK. He was probably trying to avoid a lawsuit.

I got one pulled and then three cut out a few days later. Damn roots on the first one were all jacked up. One was straight, but the three other roots were twisted like a screw. I heard all kinds of popping and cracking in my jaw. Dentist finally gets it out and says "That was the easy one."

Like hell I says with a mouthful of bloody gauze. Getting knocked out is the way to go. Expensive, but the way to go for certain.

That's what I heard - a lot of cracks and pops. Felt them too.

I didn't even have to have stitches. They came out clean while I was under, I went home with gauze in my mouth, and drank a lot of milk shakes for a couple of days.

I didn't even need my pain meds.

Had all four pulled while active duty Air Force, early 80s. Good drugs, no sleep, didn't really feel any pain. Good meds for a few days after, and a few days off work as well, though I probably really didn't need them (the days off).

Pray to God you don't suffer a Dry Socket though. I did not, thank the Lord, but it is supposedly just excruciating pain, to the point you want to die.

Any time an adult tooth is pulled a Dry Socket can result.

Ibuprofen is actually good stuff... the last tooth I had pulled, I was in agony because it was infected below the gum... they couldn't pull the tooth until the antibiotics cleared up the abscess, so they gave me Vicodin for the pain... it was great, LOL...

Then I went in and had the tooth pulled, and they offered me another scrip for
Vicodin, but I talked them into just going with the ibuprofen... I was afraid I liked the Vicodin a little too much... and y'know, the ibuprofen was all I really needed to deal with the post-extraction pain...

Mine wasn't that bad. I didn't hear the doctor right on the immediate post care instructions. Funny how that happens when you're coming out of the knock out drugggsssssssss.

My bottom right ended up a dry socket. It only took a few more days to heal that the rest.

I have to say though, I waited until one of them was hurting to the point I was rinsing with saltwater solution to kill the pain before I went in to have it yanked out. I do DESPISE trips to the dentist. Compared to that pain, the dry socket was nothing.

I remember that tooth being pulled with the cracking and popping; and thinking that's what it sounds like to crush a nugget of concrete with a pair of pliers.

The extraction I referred to in my last post was like that at first... they numbed me up, then started digging and I could feel it... I was trying to be tough, but I kind of grunted when it hurt pretty good, the dentist asked "oh, can you feel that??"

I said something semi-vulgar, he laughed and gave me another shot (which was OK because I was already semi-numb)... after that, it went pretty easy...
