The verdict is in. Need to get 2 wisdom teeth pulled out.

I'd go with the local if I were you.

I also chose to leave a couple in that weren't causing any problems. My dentist felt there was a good chance they'd never cause me any trouble.

Back from the dentist. Only got one pulled out, the one that was bothering me the most. Man, I feel weird.

So now you are only 1/2 as smart as you use to be? :laugh2:

Anyone ever had to have them pulled? How was it?

I had two done at the same time, didn't hurt that much, didn't have to be put out either.

I have another one that never came through but I just refuse to take it out unless necessary.

I didn't need to be put out either. It took about 2 minutes for him to knock it around and pull it out. I felt like I was in a comedy movie.

HOw long till the novocaine wears off? anyone?

Many dentists don't use novocaine anymore. There are tons of different anaesthetics with different half-lives out there so it is hard to say. It can be anywhere from an hour to 10 hours or so.

I personally like to use bupivicaine for my blocks because of its long half-life.

Anyhow, glad to hear that you got it done under local and went for the smaller procedure. That is the right way to go with most medical procedures.

Yeah, it's been 3 hours and I'm still numb and puffed up. I don't know if I can go back and get the other one pulled out now, because that needle really stings lol

I had all 4 removed the same time - I remember the old dentist taking a break and saying going dam this one is really messed up

as in all tangled up - all I had was novacane the needle to the gum line and aspirn

Got all 4 pulled last month. One was impacted and I was put under. About 2 minutes after he put the IV in, I asked him "Am I supposed to start feeling it yet?". He said yes, and then I woke up and it was over.

I ended up getting 2 dry sockets because I was an idiot and didn't really follow directions, and it was pretty excruciating. Imagine a migraine in your jaw. That lasted about a week and 2 weeks later I was good to go. I'm still getting food stuck in the holes but it's not painful anymore, they give you this syringe to squirt water into the holes to clear them out which is kind of a pain. It's been about a month for me and the holes aren't "healed" yet. Don't know how long that's supposed to take..

All he told me was to not smoke cigs and not drink alcohol or soda for 48 hours. I'm chugging down protein shakes right now. So I'm still hungry although I'm getting a lot of nutrients lol
