True but they didn't have the culture, owner, or hole to dig out of either.

The owner has started chirping again after a year in the background

Unfortunately this "culture" thing is not dissimilar to the "play hard" stuff

If team culture had changed substantively under Garrett we would not be seeing the lack of situational awareness by players and coaches, stupid penalties, turnovers, lack of accountability for players getting physical with coaches, and on and on. While Romo has been out we have lost some very winnable games. So I guess the changes in team culture have had little substantive impact on how this team plays and the results.

So while I'm holding out hope, color me unimpressed so far

This team really needs to find a way to win at minimum 1 game, but most preferably 2 games, the Eagles being an absolute necessity.

To climb back in this we're going to need warrior hearts from Romo and Bryant, but we're also going to need the Saints to beat the Giants on Sunday. We need to win common games, and hope the Giants do not. Right now if we were to tie the Giants, we have the tie breaker because they lost to the Eagles.

We have identical schedules for remaining games, except we have the Packers and they have the Vikings. We have yet to play the Commanders and they still have the Patriots though.

We're allowed to lose to the Seahawks, but we can't lose against Philly or Tampa. Romo will basically need to go 6-1 in his return.

10-6 definitely gets us into the playoffs, 9-7 becomes much riskier, and 8-8 will rely on a complete disaster on the part of both the Giants and the Eagles.

To help us with going 6-1 or 7-0, and to help us take 2 of the next three, I would like to see us bring in some help on offense via a trade, especially at wide receiver. Stunned we didn't do this earlier. Tony Romo hasn't lost a regular season game since November 27th of 2014. He is 6-0 in his last 6 regular season games, and you can make a bit of a homerish argument that he hasn't lost a single regular season game healthy dating back to December 15th 2013. I want to argue that we have a much better team when Romo and Dez return than we've ever had since Romo has been here. I think they can do this. The silver lining thing though is this team is basically going to be in playoff mode as soon as Romo gets back.

Believe it or not though we're not necessarily out of a wildcard birth either. The loser of the NFC South will take one spot, but if this team can win enough games it still has a shot here.

We can always count on your consistency. As always you posted double new threads. Only about 40 minutes between them this time.

So your contention is now that Dez is back, the Cowboys should trade for another WR?

Who would trade away a WR at this point? If the Cowboy are still in contention with 2 wins then most other 2 win teams probably believe they are at least in contention for a wildcard. That leaves the three 1 win teams that might be in rebuild mode.

Maybe the Lions will give the Cowboys Calvin Johnson and pay most of his salary for a conditional 7th. :lmao:

Is it possible that Romo encourages and perpetuates the culture too?

100 million was not enough.

Well, we'd have to define culture but this team doesn't give up and they, for the most part, stay out of trouble. You can only coach players up so much. However, I think the majority of people here would agree that we are drafting well and retaining as well as possible. And we have steadily climbed out of a very large cap debt and poor talent pool.

There seems to be genuine respect for the coach and despite his demeanor on the sidelines there is accountability behind closed doors.

People talk about Campo and Coach Phillips but they didn't get the glowing comments from Aikman or Staubach.

So there are real things to point out.

Problem is, none of the examples you gave are things you could possibly know

This is one of the problems with Garrett defenders, they assume stuff they don't know to defend him while ignoring stuff that is there for all to see

I have no vested interest in anyone unless they produce.

1 If you can't see the overall increase in talent then you aren't looking. Pro Bowls, All Pros, nationwide recognition
2 Staubach and Aikman are on record. Not so even Parcells.
3 Players are on record about his private demeanor
4 You can investigate our cap circumstances yourself

That's all independent of anecdotal review.

I have a feeling everyone is expecting Romo to return and magically win every game he plays in.

I have a bridge to sell in Brooklyn.

It isn't magic, it's skill. I realize you don't know anything about that as an Eagles fan.

The season is over. By the time Romo comes back most will be talking about the offseason and the draft.

well if the cowboys are 3-6 when romo comes back then the season is over. 2-7 then it is completely over. this team needs to win 2 out of the next three to have any chance when romo returns.
