With Lance and Rush potentially leaving in the off season, what do we do?

I'm not sure these two players will be missed much around here, but we have to replace them. You also have a starter in Dak who you don't know will be himself in 2025. What avenue do we go to get backup QB depth. I hope they're seriously considering a vet that can actually throw a pass, and a rookie somewhere in a decent round where the player doesn't need years and years of development. Sitting out behind a starter is key, but if he's that bad then why even pick him up. We honestly need guys that can go in there and help us get wins, not hold us back as if they've never played the position in their football careers. Please give your thoughts

Jerry shocks nobody by trading for Deshaun Watson in hopes that this environment will turn him around....just like it did for Trey Lance and Ryan Leaf.

But seriously, what about getting Justin Fields as backup.....he'd be our best rusher by a mile

It depends on who is HC here next year. If it’s McCarthy, I could see Will Grier being the backup. I could also see Cooper Rush back on a one year deal, although to me that makes little sense.

I would like to see this team draft and develop a young QB, even if it were a Day 2 pick. The problem there is this is a slim QB class and we don’t know if we will have a HC who is good at developing young QBs.

Very good points. Would it be a major shake up if we took a QB in the first round like some teams have done with having a starter already present? Yeah Haze you ruined my day and my cup of coffee i'm drinking, Will Grier and bringing Rush back, that's so lazy to me!!!!

People here recoiled at the possibility of getting Coach Prime and Shadeur here, before Jerry resigned Dak for top money.

Are those same people hyped at the possibility of more years of MM and Dak ?

Status quo almost guaranteed with the latter

The vet is somewhat irrelevant, we aren't going to win without (or some may say with) Dak.
We can draft a rookie that needs years and years of development, Dak's here through 2026. With the adverse CAP hit we won't be relying on a QB until 2027. The problem is finding that young raw QB.

there is plenty of other backup type QBs becoming FAs and we will sign one. don't put it past jerry to resign Rush...he is cheap.
and he may have a plan to keep Lance....... sells some hope. creates interest. and a few jerseys perhaps.

jerry is an idiot GM....brilliant owner/marketing man, but sucks as a GM

they sign a capable backup and i don’t like to do this when you have a high draft pick. but you have to trade down pick up more picks and you have to use your second round pick on a QB. you need to cover starting the season. and cover if daks leg does not come back to what it was. who’s available in the second. i don’t know but your going to need to move up or reach for one.

I would extend Lance on a good, inexpensive backup deal, since there's no way he's going to command much on the open market, and keep working with him and hoping he develops. Otherwise you have to look late in the draft because you can't put much resources into the QB position with Dak's deal.

Jerry can't afford Prime.......Oops.....Jerry doesn't pay in the coaching circle. $14M just for the Colorado buyout. A "Yes sir Jerry", "No sir Jerry", and "OK Jerry" coach is coming......again.

Honestly, what difference does it make? If Dak cannot play, we will not win a lot of games.

Jerral will also not bring in a backup that could, in any way, create a QB controversy.
