With Lance and Rush potentially leaving in the off season, what do we do?

I'm not sure these two players will be missed much around here, but we have to replace them. You also have a starter in Dak who you don't know will be himself in 2025. What avenue do we go to get backup QB depth. I hope they're seriously considering a vet that can actually throw a pass, and a rookie somewhere in a decent round where the player doesn't need years and years of development. Sitting out behind a starter is key, but if he's that bad then why even pick him up. We honestly need guys that can go in there and help us get wins, not hold us back as if they've never played the position in their football careers. Please give your thoughts
Actually draft a QB?

Get Your new HC, new offensive system in place first.

Then you. Depend upon your player personnel crew and Cap team to supply the new backup QBs.

Hopefully the Jones won't impede the coaches with whomever Jerry personally insists will be the backup QBs...

Jerry needs to draft a QB, stop signing these backups.... They are useless.....

You keep saying 4D chess like they are doing something no other team does. All teams do this. It's not really some big brain move. But with a salary cap you aren't going to offer big bucks to a guy you haven't seen do anything.

All teams do not do this with 3rd string QB’s who have done nothing so far.

Like I said. The simplest explanation is that Lance just isn’t that good.

Cutting him at this point doesn’t solve anything.
But it also doesn't hurt. He isn't playing. They resigned Grier who was on the team previously and knows the playbook. If they have no interest in him there is no reason to keep him on the team.

Am I the only one who still thinks we missed an opportunity to try what Lance had this season? I'm not sure why you play Rush.. you know he isn't going to win, nor does he have the skills to be anything more than what you see now.

I'm not saying Lance has 'it' but a run of 10-12 games to find out would have been better surely.

Well. When it comes to the cowboys decisions I just err on the side of the decision being a poor one. Rather than a slick, saavy move to pull one over on other teams.

I think this way due to the last 25 years of futility that had been orchestrated by the Jones’

Let them go, what else do you want to do with them? And then you draft a quarterback somewhere, but that’s rocket science for this franchise.

Like it, or not, we've got Dak for a minimum of two (probably three) years. As it stands throwing a 1stRd QB into this offense is a waste.
I'm putting 50/50 odds on whether Dak takes the field in 2025. Injuries, family, guaranteed money. He really doesn't need the Dallas Cowboys anymore.

The Cowboys worked out a few QBs earlier this year, Max Duggan probably being the biggest name. Hes a TCU guy, FA at years end, and shouldn't cost much more than league minimum. I'd look for that type of a pickup to go along with a developmental guy in the draft somewhere to be the new Trey Lance.
Key I’d draft someone with an NFL Rush has show he doesn’t have it with that last game. Would need to see Grier again , and from what I’ve seen pre season Lance has that , even over Dak

Why wouldn't Dak be himself when he returns? He has an injury that is 100% recoverable from. With the best medical treatment available to him, there is no reason to paint his future as in doubt. He will heal and be back. His backup, if Cooper and Lance don't return will be a rookie we draft and develop and will almost never see game action. Dak's new contract kicks in in 2025 so he is the future. Speculations on any other QB playing for the Cowboys is just wishful thinking by Dak's detractors.
They're not detractors. They're realists. A (in 2025) 10 yr vet coming off his 2nd season ending major leg injury. A guy who has minimal mobility and a less than desirable playoff resume. A proven big game loser. A guy who will command 25% of the entire salary cap by himself. Wow, what's not to love ? Just because we as fans are "stuck" with him, doesn't mean we have to like it.
