With Lance and Rush potentially leaving in the off season, what do we do?

Draft a Jackson Dart develop him with the idea he actually plays if the offense stalls or INT’s are sailing into the arms of safeties . Prescott needs accountability. A Will Grier Mike White type could be QB 3 emergency man . Rush and Lance do not need to be on 25 roster .

The vet is somewhat irrelevant, we aren't going to win without (or some may say with) Dak.
We can draft a rookie that needs years and years of development, Dak's here through 2026. With the adverse CAP hit we won't be relying on a QB until 2027. The problem is finding that young raw QB.
The Dak deal is all the more galling when you see quarterbacks like Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold ball out and play near an MVP level for a fraction of the price.

Yep, most QBs will succeed or fail based on the talent around them more so than their own abilities. Unless its a truly elite QB I would much rather gamble on turnover at that position over losing multiple guys elsewhere.

The Cowboys worked out a few QBs earlier this year, Max Duggan probably being the biggest name. Hes a TCU guy, FA at years end, and shouldn't cost much more than league minimum. I'd look for that type of a pickup to go along with a developmental guy in the draft somewhere to be the new Trey Lance.

I'm not sure these two players will be missed much around here, but we have to replace them. You also have a starter in Dak who you don't know will be himself in 2025. What avenue do we go to get backup QB depth. I hope they're seriously considering a vet that can actually throw a pass, and a rookie somewhere in a decent round where the player doesn't need years and years of development. Sitting out behind a starter is key, but if he's that bad then why even pick him up. We honestly need guys that can go in there and help us get wins, not hold us back as if they've never played the position in their football careers. Please give your thoughts
That's why Jerry Jones isn't a good GM

In deference to Dak’s health concerns, sign a back up with as much starting experience as possible for under $5 million per year.

I would extend Lance on a good, inexpensive backup deal, since there's no way he's going to command much on the open market, and keep working with him and hoping he develops. Otherwise you have to look late in the draft because you can't put much resources into the QB position with Dak's deal.
That has been floated as a theory by some around here, including myself, as to why they haven't been playing him this year. No one is going to really pay much for a guy who hasn't done much besides ride the bench. That's assuming they want to keep him. We'll know once FA starts.

I would draft somebody on day 3.

They can be your backup and maybe you get lucky and can develop them to take over for Dak.

So the theory is that the Jones’ are playing 4D chess?

I think the more logical explanation is that Lance sucks and Jerry burned a 4th round pick on him.

Why wouldn't Dak be himself when he returns? He has an injury that is 100% recoverable from. With the best medical treatment available to him, there is no reason to paint his future as in doubt. He will heal and be back. His backup, if Cooper and Lance don't return will be a rookie we draft and develop and will almost never see game action. Dak's new contract kicks in in 2025 so he is the future. Speculations on any other QB playing for the Cowboys is just wishful thinking by Dak's detractors.

We’ll do the obvious, draft a QB or bring in an undrafted FA to develop and sign an experienced castoff with some starting experience.
