With Lance and Rush potentially leaving in the off season, what do we do?

It's relatively simple. We'd probably be well advised to draft a QB that has enough real promise to deserve it.

A vet FA QB is yet another possibility. Jerry and Stephen have been too timid to make such a move. It's time.
I agree totally but you're talking about the Cowboys who WILL not do this, they'll be more excited about a UDFA QB

The starter's contract in not a serious cap issue........keep believing Jerry if you want to......he's got more for you in the coming season.
Naive. Not sure who you're believing but they may be a worse source than Jerry!!!

Only ways to pay your QB huge and stay in contention are: 1) Mahomes, pay your QB for many years and keep pushing money down the road. 2) Hurts: Trade assets and draft smartly, using those picks to fill huge holes.

We have done neither. We're currently going the way of Cincy, having to let players walk for your QB contract, and the team goes downhill as a result.

It wouldn't be a serious cap issue for most teams. The Cowboys currently have the highest paid player in the NFL, a QB, as well as one of the currently highest paid WR's.

In addition, they still have to deal with dead money created by voidable years in contracts.

Why would Jerry lie about this when anyone can go straight to spotrac.com and see for themselves? It is true, but understandable, that the Cowboys rollover some cash in anticipation of Parsons or another's contract.
Not trying to convince you.......see Howie Roseman, the guy laughing.

Lance must look ROUGH in practice if he hasn't even got a look yet.

As far as Rush, how do you release him at this point? Dak's not getting any healthier. Maybe some other team gives him an offer we can't match, but I wouldn't let Rush just walk out the door.

The Dak deal is all the more galling when you see quarterbacks like Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold ball out and play near an MVP level for a fraction of the price.

Those are 1st round talent, they were lacking proper coaching.

"We" do what we do whenever the starter's contract is a serious cap issue. We back him up with a rookie free agent.
if you understood the cap, which you obviously don't...actually look at cap hits of other QBs in the league. why is it our QB salary has handicapped the mental midgets in our front office, but there are teams competing at a high level with similar contracts!!!!

Because they draft DT's, high and often.

The only 2 highly paid QB's w/ similar contracts on other teams who are successful are Hurts and Jackson. And they are D teams. Mahomes's contract takes him out of this convo, as he was smart enough and team-oriented enough to sign a very long term contract so the team could keep quality players around him.

I think they need a quality backup because I am worried Dak will get hurt again. But I don't think Jerry will spend money on a quality backup. Expect Cooper Rush to be back with a new contract next year.

and Goff. Herbert (yes, they are in 3rd place, but 8-6). Love.
Burrows, has the cinci offense humming, only if their defense was middle of the pack. they actually have the #1 passing offense. top 5 scoring offense.

so there is more than just those 2. and kudos to KC, for being risky and handing out a 10 year contract. unprecedented in the NFL and very risky. but its paying off.
he is a generational talent and we are lucky to watch him play.

Cowboys rarely draft QBs, so I look for them to re-sign one (or both), then add a UDFA they think has potential.
