It’s not exactly a surprise. If I was at the end of one career and offered $4 million a year to start at the very top of a new career, I’d take it too. Witten is a smart man.

Bright side.. Maybe we can truely find out what we have in Swaim, Rico, Jarwin, & newbie..Schultz. I’m not as worried about the position as some. Dallas TEs main job is to block first, then break down a short route for the most part. And I personally believe we have the players to do just that.. What I’d like to see more of, is a TE that can get down field a make plays also. Rico is the only one that ‘may’ be able to do that, although Swaim did that a few times a couple years ago when Witten allowed him to play

Interesting caveat I saw in a PFT article talking about if the Cowboys would ask for the $4.7M in bonus $ Witten just got back...but according to Clarence Hill that check never even got cut. Seems to imply that maybe this wasn’t a surprise at all. Not sure if that has been talked about or not...
