Witten update

Interesting caveat I saw in a PFT article talking about if the Cowboys would ask for the $4.7M in bonus $ Witten just got back...but according to Clarence Hill that check never even got cut. Seems to imply that maybe this wasn’t a surprise at all. Not sure if that has been talked about or not...

Love Witten. I hate that he is working for that dog pile of poo station.
The other ones aren't any better and at least it's not NFLN. Tessitore is good on play-by-play in college and I think they'll make a good team. Hell, I might even have to watch MNF again. I didn't like the matchups unless I had some DFS players going in a close one and Gruden put ants on me. His act got old really fast.

4-4.5M is really good for a rookie on a cable net. Gruden was at 6M but he'd been there 9 years and was rumored to be up for a HC gig all 9. If you watched closely, the minute his name popped up, there was a lull before he responded to give ESPN time to throw a little more his way.

Since the Gruden Grinder is gone, I think Witten needs one, maybe Witten's Warrior but for fun and to add a little twist to it, how about Witten's Wus. The player most likely to screw up and cost his team the game.

Probably at first it could be WITTEN'S WRAP-UP where he lays down the aspects & primary reasons for winners& losers in each game,,,winning player gets a gift wrapped six-pack,,losing player a Boston globe newsprint wrapped fisho_O
* all fictitiously of course, simply for the theatrical of effects in pointing out a single key play or player who'd made the difference,,,er:huh:,,,one way or the other:lmao:

If this is, indeed, true, we all owe Jason Witten a big salute & a THANK YOU. Truly one of the all-time great Cowboys. Right up there with the best of them. Good luck & God bless, my man ✊.

I bet Romo will train him
.
I think Witten is smart knowing this team is in a rebuilding mode and the chance of have a ring will take a long time.

Witten really deserves his retirement and the great job he's being offered. He has earned his millions and stands
to provide well for his family now and forever. I wish him well and I will watch him from time to time despite him
being on ESPN, Yuk!

He'll be missed as a team mate and source of inspiration. End of the Romo/Witt/Dez era. Who saw that coming in 2018? I accept change. Any body got a quarter?

Plus we all heard the WittenTV rumors a month ago

If we heard then the team heard

They were not blindsided......he went for a second round of interviews early last week

Here is an article from March 12th

Per a Sporting News report, FOX is interested in hiring Jason Witten to do the Thursday Night Football broadcasts if they can't get Peyton Manning.

a contract is a contract..if Wittens wants it i believe hes owed it..im sure if he retires theres ways to get it Prorated to come out ok for both sides..if his was restructure im sure hes owed some of it..

How many former Cowboys does this make in the booth/studio at a national level?

- Tony
- Witten
- Irvin
- Troy
- Moose
- Deion
- Woodson
- Gil Brandt (NFL Radio)
- Ditka (is he still doing NFL on ESPN?)

Whom am I missing? Not including local coverage...
you are forgetting the best one of the bunch......Don "turn out the lights" Meredith

I get these updates from the Cowboys in the form of emails. I think I signed up to go to training camp at the Star - ended up not going - and it included me in these emails.

The report said the offer from ESPN is double what he makes with the Cowboys.

So, being the curious guy I am, I Googled ESPN commentator salaries. It gave the range between 500K to 2 million.

I find it a stretch to think Witten is only making a million for the 2018 season.

Take this as you like. I'm skeptical.

they offered him around 4mil per..

they offered him around 4mil per..

Yes, that would be the math. So of all the commentators on ESPN, they are bringing in a guy for his first contract and offering him twice what the top ones make?
