He is not reading the plays correctly and hitting the hole with velocity. Seems he waits for the player to come to him.

A lot of evidence suggests this is by design though. The question I have is that because it's what DQ wants his backer to do, or is this DQ adjusting his defense to fit a player who can't do what he once could?

A perfect example of LVE is that screen play that almost went for a TD. What made Sean Lee great wasn't his speed, it was his understanding that allowed him to make plays. Sean Lee would've made that tackle on the spot when it came his way. LVE was stuck on a block and took forever to turn around and go the other direction after the RB went right by him. Sean Lee gets under that block and makes the tackle. LVE runs heavy, kinda like Gronk. That's bad enough, but that means it's even more important for him to see plays developing and handle it.

LVE is fine, but they need to find better.

Hopefully, that's Damone Clark.

I always see him running after the rb has already gotten a good chunk of yards.
I mean, I get what you guys are saying LVE is no where near the player he was his rookie year. I'm still scratching my head as to why that is. He was a beast stopping the run his rookie year. He was a pro-bowler and almost got rookie of the year. I've read that the defensive coordinator under Carrot-Head messed him up moving him to outside LB. Then of course,he got hurt. Now, it's almost like he's late making decision on what to do. I want the old LVE back!!!! He reminded me of Jack Lambert his rookie season.

There are other examples too. Against the eagles on the TD run he had the RB in the hole and could've met him but someone the RB juked him into jumping in a gap that the DLineman had collapsed already. There was no where for the runner to go except the gap that LVE vacated for no good reason. His athleticism declining is one thing but he now has a much better DLine in front of him and he has not gotten smarter and this is his 2nd year under Quinn scheme and everyone looks better except him, he's kinda maintained where he has been recently but that weird in of itself.
