Yes I do. But their league is professional and based on revenue. It unfortunately will be some time before the greed is stopped. Both women and men’s National soccer teams belong to the same organization and take from the same exact pie.

Some interesting information in that article.

Is some of the pay gap due to discrimination? Probably. There are also other factors. This isn't just a straightforward thing of "they do the same job, they deserve the same pay". It would be great if that were the case because this would all be settled. Actually, if this were the case, then the women would deserve even more pay than the men's side due to having more success. There are other things involved and it is more complex than is often presented. In the end, I think the women will get a bump in pay and I think much of it will be deserved for what they deliver. Will it end up being equal? I don't know.

I think MLS is on par with English League 1 or English Championship. Probably more of league 1. I actually do think it's light years behind EPL, La Liga, Serie A, and Bundesliga.

My home town team is Portsmouth (known as "Pompey") I watch them week in and week out playing in League 1 in England. Take my word for it, the MLS is markedly better than the dross I subject myself to. The MLS is behind the bigger European league's but it is also probably the fastest evolving league in the world. It is the only league that will definitely be better than it is now in ten years time.

I’ll take your word for it on Portsmouth. But the mls must change things for it to continue to improve in those 10 years. I don’t think we are ready for pro rel yet but for the culture to improve and the players to improve, it needs to be part of us soccer in the future. Imo, the USSF and MLS hinders the growth and quality of the sport in the US. From pay to play, to scheduling, to payments, to lack of pro rel. The Americanized version of the sport isn’t pretty to look at. I don’t need to see liverpool to say they are way better than any other mls team. I can look at Wolverhampton and make the exact same conclusion. Fans of the sport in the US know this and sees it. That’s why outside of a couple markets, stadiums are half empty. But when an icc match occurs here in the US, stadiums are solid out.

Atlanta United, defending MLS champs, just traded for a Bournemouth bench guy on a free transfer. He'll be starting next game. While it is true that there are guys in the MLS who can play EPL level football, the overall talent on an MLS roster pales in comparison to even an English Championship team.

I like the MLS, but its future is in developing and selling talent to European teams. Otherwise, its just a final showcase for retiring stars.

Yeah when I looked at the EFL Championship game between Aston Villa and Derby County back in May. I saw a level of play that was higher than the MLS to me and these two were 5 and 6 in the table.

As far as the MLS in developing. Well that comes down to the USSF/SUM/MLS. If they don't get better in their academies now, it will continue to suffer as well as the USMNT. It will also affect the USWNT because Europe and South America have either better academies, a better culture, or both. There is a reason why 7 of the 8 quarterfinals were European teams.

I think they need to re-evaluate international player caps on NWSL teams and expanded the salary cap as well.

I agree completely. MLS is the fastest growing league in the world. If they partnered more with NWSL, I think it would grow even faster. You want to get more people into soccer regardless of their gender.

I bet in the next 20 or so years MLS will be either the largest sport in the country or the second largest.

Well, the other issue for this country is that our most talented athletes don't play soccer. Soccer is behind football and basketball...........far behind. Whats really needed is more exposure to the best version of the sport. Its really hard to catch a Barcelona or Ajax game in this country.
