World Cup 2014

How do you figure they choked - I'm pretty sure Brazil was favored in all those games....no easy task to beat Brazil IN Brazil.

Winnings shot in regulation - MISSED!
Lame, lame first two kicks of their five shots.
Then the 5th shot hit post. It was a goal if 2 inches to left and still gets past goalie.

Robben is one of the games worst and he showed that in play.
He had full on flopped a few times in the box.
He has the skill to simply go create scoring chances but instead merely tried to create a foul.

In a game full of floppers Robben is one of the worse. He is annoying when he is flopping around. He, Fernando Torres, Frank Ribery, anyone from Brazil, Luis Suarez and several other guys take flopping to a whole new obnoxious level. The refs really need to issue more yellow cards for diving. The rules allow for it, but for some reason the refs are hesitant to card for simulation.

Robben dove. But it was still probably a penalty.

My favorite ones are when a player acts like he got his face pounded by an elbow or something, falling to the ground in writhing "agony", when another player barely bumps legs or hips with him, just grazing him by the merest of touches. Just. Wow. If I were the ref I'd certainly give him something yellow to agonize about...

Arjen Robben admits to diving in win over Mexico

It was the turning point of the Netherlands' dramatic comeback over Mexico in the Round of 16 at the FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

In stoppage time, Arjen Robben appeared to be clipped be Mexico's Rafael Marquez. Next thing, Robben's arms were thrown back and his facial expression seemed to indicate he'd been maimed.

According to Mexican coach Miguel Herrera, it was the third time Robben had taken flight during the contest.

The Dutchman is now apologizing for at least one of the first-half incidents.

“The one at the end was a clear penalty," Robben told Dutch Television, "but I have to admit there was an incident in the first half where I did dive. I must apologize. I should not be doing that.”

Commentator said it best, Robben was falling even before contact with marquez foot, that should be a yellow on Robben

Flopping should be a red card and it should be enforced, that would make players think twice before doing it

It's a clear penalty. Robben is one of the worst in the game for diving, I don't like Robben or the Dutch by the way, and he definitely made the most of it and went down theatrically but it was a lazy/tired challenge from Marquez and it clearly caught Robben. No matter how over the top he was going down it doesn't change the fact that Marquez put his foot in Robbens path and tripped him. People should be getting booked when they dive yes but in this instance he was actually fouled.

Germany ain't winning this tournament

This tournament doesn't have a clearcut favorite. Germany could very well end up winning it. Or they could lose in the next round. I like it that way.

Well the commentator that was in the middle was a former NED player forgot his name and he disagreed with everything you just said.

Many won´t like this article, but facts are facts, although we all know NFL is King, soccer is gaining on the other 3 major sports in America.

Soccer is now part of the New America

CNN) -- Well, so much for the idea that Americans don't care about soccer.
The U.S. National team made it out of the so-called "group of death" Thursday to advance to the knockout round of competition at the FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

Regardless of how much further the Stars and Stripes advance in the biggest sporting event on the planet, they already have revealed something that even casual observers can see.

Soccer is now woven inextricably into the fabric of American life.

Television viewership numbers continue to set new highs with each U.S. game The proverbial office water cooler has been abuzz with chatter about the U.S. team's dramatic 2-1 win over Ghana and its heartbreaking, last second 2-2 tie with Portugal. "Where are you watching the game" has become the question of the day. Thousands filled the streets for viewing parties in Chicago, Pittsburgh, Kansas City, Seattle and Washington -- in the middle of the workday.

Soccer used to be their game -- the Europeans, the South Americans, the Africans. Today it is our game too, bringing the nation together in a passionate embrace of its athleticism, its skill and, yes, its excitement.
Why? A changing America has become younger and more diverse, and those two demographics simply love soccer more than their parents.

Increased immigration from regions where you learn how to kick a soccer ball as soon as you learn how to walk -- Latin America, Africa, Europe -- and particularly, our growing Hispanic population, is only deepening the nation's relationship with soccer.

In the U.S., the Latino population has soared to 17%, according to the U.S. Census. And that number is only growing.
Today, soccer is the second favorite sport for those 12 to 24 years old. It's the third largest participation sport in the country. Soccer is the team sport with the highest growth rate over the past decade. That 41% of players are women only broadens its appeal.

U.S teams performing increasingly well on the international stage hasn't hurt either. The U.S. Men's National team has qualified for seven consecutive World Cups. Our Women's National team is ranked No. 1 in the world.

While interest naturally peaks among aficionados and novices alike during a mega event like the World Cup, and subsides afterward, this is not a passing fad.

Total attendance at soccer matches in the U.S. in 2013 exceeded 10 million, according to attendance figures compiled by U.S. Soccer. Our country has become the largest market in the world for international matches, according to the U.S. Soccer Federation, the governing body for the game in the United States.

I'm loving it, it really is wide open right now and all the favorites have shown weakness other then France who I think beats Germany if the play like today

This video is awsome, you don't have to be a soccer fan to enjoy it.

I'd say Colombia also. I guess the only negatives you could say about France and Colombia is the teams they have played, but they can't control that, they beat who is in front of them

I would agree, until you see Germany struggle w ghana and algeria. Netherlands struggle w mexico and Australia. Argentina struggle vs iran.. Brazil struggle vs Croatia and mexico...

So at the end of it all, what Colombia is doing is pretty impressive..
