It's no secret that our defense has drawn some unfavorable reviews to put it mildly. But do you guys buy that this may be the worst group of defenders a team has fielded since the new millennium? The front 7 probably has a case for that distinction, that group looks like someone's idea of a sick joke. Even the most blind of optimists and sunshine pampers are grasping for straws when asked about this defense, except "well, it can't get any worse... Right??"

I don't think we have seen the final version of what this defense yet. We'll add more players before the season begins and injured players will be returning. Once we get to week 6 or so we'll start to see what we do or don't have. Until then it's just way to fluid of a situation.

Big Dog, I think you're right. We will be scouring the waiver wire on both the first and second round of cuts and the scouts will have their hands full watching other pre-season games to find some help.

I honestly think much of the conjecture is as a result of what happened during preseason game 1. Way too many projected starters were missing for conclusions to be formed. But it is what it is...2 parts popular opinion / 1 part "look at me, make me relevant again!"

let's just forfeit the entire season already: get a #1 draft pick, rest all the players, heal all the injuries.
use the entire 2015 draft on defense.

problem solved.

we know the offence is ok.

Love it!!! ;)

It is Ross Tucker who is at least right twice day if he was a clock.

I'd be comforted by a lack of starters in that game if there weren't question marks with starters who were out.

Every. Year. People overreact one way or the other to the preseason games.

Expectations around here took a nosedive after we looked so bad in SD. They'll be up again if we look good on Sat. The reality is it doesn't matter. The games don't count, and they're a poor predictor of the likely outcome of the season.

Didn't Detroit go 4-0 in the preseason during their 0-16 year? And I seem to recall a bunch of 1-3 or 0-4 preseasons in the 90s. Nuff said.

Decade? You can make a run at HISTORY! Our d is bad, very bad! Stock up on Cowboys offense for fantasy!

I don't know. Maybe the regular season will dictate whether this will eventually be the worst defense ever or a defense that will surprise some people. In the end, some folks will be saying I told you so. Or they will be looking like Sheldon Cooper did on The Big Bang Theory after Mary Farrah Fowler corrected him by saying Indiana Jones played no part saving the world at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark. I know that look. I'm a huge ROTLA fan and didn't think about that consequence of the movie until I saw that episode. Catching flies with your mouth is nasty. :(:)

This opinion was prevalent long before the club arrived at Oxnard and certainly before any preseason game. This is expansion club quality talent we're talking about on that side of the ball here.

And I mention that with all due respect to expansion teams throughout history.

We'll be fortunate to somehow avoid the distinction of again being the Cowboys' worst defense in this millenium. Not only is the depth poor but many of the starters appear to be in serious doubt of being healthy enough to compete. While it's true that some additions may be forthcoming in the weeks ahead, it's also true that those additions will be hard-pressed to absorb enough of the schemes to make their performances very meaningful. Sorry, but I can't help but believe the Cowboys' defense has much serious work to do before they're even remotely considered to be of anything resembling good depth.

Adding players who could not make other teams will not do anything at all to help. Just fill a spot with a body.

This defense is a byproduct of our pathetic drafting over the years. Trading picks and picking injury prone guys for blue light special equals what we have now. Low on talent and no depth to speak of.

This defense will be missing arguably the 3 best players from last year's record setting defense. Ware, Hatcher and Lee. Then don't forget Scandrick for a quarter of the year. This defense will be even worse. Couple that with a tougher schedule and this could get ugly.

Well. jeez imagine if we get hit with the injury bug again once the season begins, if that happens, we might get 3 wins, if lucky.

I can understand why Jerry says Jason's job isn't tied to wins, don't agree, but I understand.

Stop making sense.
