Eh, it was a fine play call. If the ball had been thrown properly in one of the easiest throws you can ask for, it's a touchdown. He had clear vision and a nice throwing lane. Wilson just choked.

It was a awful play call.

Isn't hindsight grand? Grand standing after the fact, as if you know better is always a profound proposition that is entertaining for me to observe others do and then laugh in their face at there absurdity. Pardon me while I continue my laughter. :lmao2:

I don't care if you're the greatest quarterback in the history of the NFL, when you have Lynch in the backfield at the 1 yard line he should get the ball without question

They had 30 second, 1 timeout and 3 shots at the endzone. Lynch just got them a first...It is almost certain lynch get you a TD. 3rd down probably would have been a pass to stop clock then you have a 4th down.

Yeah it had nothing to do with throwing 4 TDs in a Super Bowl or leading your team to 2 TDs in the final part of the 4th quarter.

Yeah, nothing to do with that at all. Just name only.

You are sounding real dumb right about now.

You don't have to like my opinion. That's fine with me. But don't call me dumb. You don't know me.
You don't sound to smart right now.

Who cares if it was a horrible throw or not? That's not the play you call when your life is on the line "so to speak". You go out with Murray if you're the Cowboys, and you go out with Beast Mode if you're the birds. And by the way, Belicheat was stupid for not calling time outs under a minute, had Beast Mode scored, Belicheat would be run out of Boston.

I'm not justifying it. It was still the worst call in NFL history.

I doubt Wilson ever saw the CB, he came up from behind the receiver. I bet when he let the ball go he thought it was an easy TD.

I still think it was a way worse call than throw, and most of all an outstanding recognition play by Butler.

It was an awful play all. I'm just saying the throw was awful. I think even if he made it, it would have been tackled at the line.

So many things can go wrong.

Catch and fumble/strip.
Tipped ball

Oh, and an int is possible.

Heh heh

Whoever called the pass play at the end there for the Seahawks? Carroll perhaps...? That man who called the play is the MVP of the game. For the Patriots.

I've heard people say it's a play that "if it works you are a genius".

No, the play is stupid even if it works. If it works you just got lucky is all.

I agree that it's the worst call in Super Bowl history, and possibly all of football. One thing people aren't talking about enough is the timeout Seattle had to burn a few plays earlier in order to avoid a delay of game penalty. That is a timeout you can't afford to waste with less than 2 minutes left and needing a TD to win the game. If Seattle still had that timeout they almost certainly would have ran the ball 3 times from the 1 yard line. In the end New England had better coaching and that was the difference. Great game.

Gonna be interesting to see how the Seahawks come back from this. If they come back from it. With some of the rumors going around re: the feelings in that locker room in the first place.
The Seahawks are about to discover how tough it is to stay on top for an extended period of time. Like all successful teams, their assistants are being picked up by other teams. Also, their QB is going to be getting a roughly $20 million per year raise.

Wilson will certainly get a huge signing bonus and low salary for 2015, pushing the cap hit back a little.... But it is reasonable to suggest that their 2 best players, Wilson and Sherman, will hit the cap for $25 million *more* in 2016 than they did in 2014.

You have to wonder. If the stories were true about the rift between Harvin and Lynch and some of the other players and Wilson...man, that one play sure put a microscope right on the rift. If they then overpay Wilson and (comparatively) underpay Lynch this offseason, after *that* series? That's going to hit the locker room some how. Having Bevel trotting out excuses for the throw by blaming the WR isn't going to play well, either. At least, it wouldn't with me.

Carroll's a very good coach, but even his credibility might not be enough to overcome throwing away a Superbowl win. Yeah, I think that team's got a lot of work to do when it comes to harmonizing.

On that related note, though, Bennett--if you saw his post game comments--did a really nice job trying to bring everybody together. It was pretty impressive to see, because I always expect him to go off and say something redonkulous like his brother would in the same situation. Somehow, he resisted the urge.
