Would any signing at this point make you happy?

Is there any cause to be happy with a new signing, what are your thoughts. It sucks just sitting back and watching!
I would be happy if we just freed up some money and at least pretended like we trying to sign a few players.

I would be interested in Chase Young , and Jerome Baker ( he’s underrated). At DT we appear to be completely screwed. Addressing DT will likely have to come from a trade last we did last year with Cooks/Gilmore.

I think Tyron will retire actually. I'm kind of stunned he hasn't been picked up by a team yet. I think if he plays this year, it will be because of injury, and he will come off the couch.
From what I heard, he wants 8 mil. At this point in his career he's simply a swing tackle who has trouble staying on the field.

I don't agree. Last year, we re-signed Hankins then drafted Mazi.

Dallas likes to sign place-holders that makes the Joneses feel like they don't have to force a pick. None of those players are valued highly enough or cost too much for the team to not turn around a draft a replacement.

A good example of this is James Washington. Dallas traded Cooper and lost Wilson in free agency and then signed Washington as a cheap FA. That didn't keep them from drafting a WR (Tolbert) in the third round.
Excellent example. You would be correct. Sometimes it's kind of hard to tell because like you say, they sign place holders. They probably wouldn't draft a RB if they signed Henry for example. But if they sign some low end vet, then they may still draft a RB.

This year Dallas may be stretched a little thin. They need more starters than they can get in the draft.

Did DJ Reader sign a contract with anyone yet? He might give me a tiny bit of hope. But I don't think it will ever happen.

They won't sell it that way. For example, with Washington, they were selling him as their replacement third receiver with the ability to step in as the No. 2 if Gallup was slow coming off injury. That allowed them to justify waiting until the third round to draft a small-school receiver as competition, when they actually needed a bona fide starting-caliber receiver.

The Cowboys will sign several place-holders and sell it that because of their signings, they are not going into the draft with any absolute needs.

Yes and these aren't crazy move - I'm not talking all of these:
Tackle - Resign Tyron Smith or go young with Mekki Becton - Andrus Peat
Corner - Resign Stephon Gilmore - Lots of Cbs left in free agency
Running Back - Clyde Edward Helaire, JK Dobbins, Alex Maddison
Defensive Line - DJ Reader - Need more then this
Edge - Gregory for Depth?? Reclamation Project K'Lavon Chaisson - Need Depth
Linebackers - Not much left but Devin White and a 34 year old Bobby Wagner is much better then what we have

Starting center would then be the biggest weakness along with running back.

I'm honestly feeling like the best path at this point is get out of the Dak contract, but, since you asked, signing Armstead and Wagner, and resigning Gilmore and Tyron, would make me happy. Then address C and RB (and likely WR in the draft, since Gallup will likely be cut).
ike JPJ, X Legette, B Allen.

Tyron return would be nice - would help expand what they could do in the draft
DJ Reader - if healthy
Bobby Wagner

All 3 would be short term win now deals

A one year incentive laden deal for Tyron to protect us against the inevitable injuries and a two year deal for Bobby Wagner would make me happy. Then re-sign Gilmore and get a low end cheapish starting OL to start if needed or be a good backup depending on how the draft goes. I'd love a dominant DT who can be a force on both running and passing downs, but knowing all of this isn't likely I'd settle for a true 1 tech (Hankins or someone else).

No. I wanted Aaron Jones, but... oh well. Who needs a good run game when you can put the full weight of the offense onto your QB.
