Yeah.
I agree with almost none of this. If you think Dak and Herbert are comparable even at the smallest of scales then we are just wasting our time here going back and forth.
Look here. I'm not disputing that we might need to draft a new QB. I've actually stated in other threads that we probably should be drafting a new QB in the offseason. Not to take over immediately, but to prepare for when Dak does leave and to provide competition. That said, I'm comparing how they perform in differing situations and the circumstances surrounding the team.
For one thing, Herbert has Joe Lombardi. Dak has Kellen Moore. Advantage, Kellen Moore in circumstances. How much do you think Moore would realistically get out of Herbert compared to Lombardi? Herbert has Mike Williams, Keenan Allen (who I think missed the match yesterday with an injury), and DeAndre Carter at WR. Dak has Lamb, Houston (UDFA), and Noah Brown. Advantage, Herbert by a large margin. Now, if we also had had Gallup and Washington, then perhaps it might be advantage Dak, but, for now, it's advantage Herbert. Dak does have a slight advantage at TE with Schultz over Everett. Herbert also has a massive advantage at oline with the likes of Corey Linsley, Zion Johnson, Rashawn Slater, and Brendan James. Dak has Martin, Steele, and a rookie in Tyler. Ergo, Herbert has the oline advantage. Also, running game, advantage would be with Dak if Moore would actually use Zeke and Pollard properly. Zeke was gashing the Bucs and Moore inexplicably stopped using him. Which, again, shows advantage Herbert because his OC isn't a complete dunce. So, Herbert has a few more things, including coaching in general which is a huge advantage, on his side.
Had we had comparable coaching (and don't get me started on Jerry haha) and Dak were still performing this way, then yes, there'd be no question. However, as it stands, the supporting cast that Herbert has compared to Dak is startling and is a clear fact.
