Most teams draft according to proven skillsAll teams draft for traits. If they're smart.

We don't ask the 3 tech to be a run stopper.
Also that's a matter of technique and discipline not ability.
As I've stated numerous times you make fewer mistakes when you take big over little. Especially when that big is a big time athlete with a skill that translates favorably to the NFL.
/shrug.
They blocked him from transferring with other players. Sounds like they don't know what they're dealing with.It would have been a pretty awesome feat.
Actually, it is not common that a college staff buries a player and he still goes in the 2nd round.
I can appreciate that Marinelli trusts Frost, but that is a huge deal. That is us basically telling the current staff at UCF that they don't know what they were dealing with.
No, they don't. There are no proven skills of college prospects. That really doesn't make sense. Most teams draft according to proven skills
I find it very strange the Marinelli/Jerry don't comprehend the effects a big dude has on a D. Raji, Knighton, Wilfork, Alan Branch, all were important cogs in their team's super bowl runs. Thing is, unless they're consistently disruptive like Wilfork, you cannot afford to overpay them. That's why the Pats employ a strategy of signing, using, then walking away from them as soon as they want a big contract. They let Branch and Brown walk, but then immediately replaced them w/ Danny Shelton, a huge guy. And while Belly does not play them every down, they are very important to the rotation and at times real difference makers. Why in the world would we not want a DT to effect the run? You don think Marinelli would be ecstatic if he got better run D from his DTs against Indy and Rams?
Wherever this misconception came from that DTs just eat blocks so LBs make tackles is insane.
He would have potentially been a first round if he actually played better.
Actually there is. That's the very basis on what determines the round the player is taken. First rounders are never taken on traits. you get your trait players in undrafted free agency. I can't believe I have to explain this. No, they don't. There are no proven skills of college prospects. That really doesn't make sense.
There is no explanation that works, because you are incorrect. I can't believe I have to explain this!!!!!!!Actually there is. That's the very basis on what determines the round the player is taken. I will be here to let everyone know when Thornhill gets an INT. I mean at this point I hope Hill plays better tho.Don't think so in this class but with his measurables, and a man that can have a vertical of 35" at his size is nuts. He also doesn't fit the systems of some of these DC's.
However, his ceiling is higher than some of the DT's taken ahead of him and, in the first round, and is exactly what fits Marinelli's system.
I think as more details come to light about that coaching change at UCF and his reaction, more teams are going to think that might have let that enter their grading a little too much.
This latest about being denied by UCF to transfer to be with his HC is about as dumb as it gets. The kid doesn't want to play for you, let him go. But he was their best DL and too many wanted to follow Frost, the guy really responsible for people even knowing UCF existed.
Hill will not be measured against the other DL in this draft, he will be measured against the Safety's that the Cowboys passed on by a lot in this forum...….the Greg Ellis Syndrome.

Yes I will.how about when he gets burned or misses a tackle? will you tell us that as well?
I just hope Hill is more Frank Clark than David Irving...David Irving would have, too.
