Would it help this team if they were treated like the team they actually resemble, the Detroit Lions?

Playoff wins/success are the only thing that matters to most fans when viewing the success of a franchise. How many Cowboys fans consider that 13 win season a few years ago one of their great, all time seasons? Not many, if any. Why? Because they got dumped in the first round.

Playoff success is the only real barometer of where a franchise is.

Regular season wins? The Cowboys have 94 wins over the last 10 years. The Eagles 92. Is anyone gonna try to argue that we've been a more successful franchise over the last decade. The 49ers have 79 wins over the last 10 years. Anyone going to argue we've been more successful than them over the last decade?

There is nothing extreme about our position here. The Cowboys have literally been one of the worst postseason teams over the last two decades. If you shrink it to the last decade, great, they are middle of the pack. Pop the champagne.
Cowboys have 102 wins over the last 10 years and the Eagles have 96. To be accurate.

Again, you can keep convincing yourself that we are the Lions....I am not participating in this idiocy any more.

Just a flat-out moronic statement. sad really go root for the fight over results.. lol the cowboys dont play hard is another false narrative.
I watch the lines and I watched their effort they seem to play harder than the Cowboys but I certainly have made moronic statement that’s fine

My bad, I set the stat muse website at 2013 but it was wins post 2013.

And I never said they were the Lions. Just that they are a lot closer to them than the upper crust of the league.

I don’t buy the narrative that Jerry doesn’t care about winning. Not at all.

He just isn’t any good at it.
He doesn't care about winning. He won't even close the darn curtains to help his team when confronted about it. He won't fire himself as GM. He just stated publicly that he likes being in the middle and that teams like Philly are doing it wrong as they lap him 3 times this century.

Frankly, what more do you need to be convinced?

Well when you put it that way….lol.

Semantics.

You’re right, I just don’t think he doesn’t care about winning, he just has no idea how to do it, and truly thinks no other human is better for the job than he is.

We are talking narcissism to an extremely high level.

Lions should be excited. They've been terrible for so long. The problem in Dallas is they haven't been terrible they have been on the kusp of being a good team and the frustration sets in when you can see how close to being great they can be if management would add a little more talent before the trade deadline.

I'm just sticking to refuting the thread title and what you brought up multiple times.

Yes closer to Lions...I guess....but still not even in the same area code.

Same area code as the Lions? No, I don't think that we are.

But we are certainly in the same state or region (success wise) as they are. Especially when the truly successful teams are across the country on a different coast than we are.

0 means zero.

4 means 4.

0 means you haven't done it at all.

Therefore, you don't even register how bad you suck.

I agree with you. Here's a geographical reference:

If the the winning teams' area codes are in Florida,

And the Lion's area code is in Alaska,

Then we are located somewhere around Utah or Idaho.

Fine...we are in the contiguous USA and they are almost in Siberia.

I agree with this.

You got me. They are dead in the middle in playoff wins in the last 10 years.

The fact you think this somehow changes the discussion is hilarious, but telling.

I mean is this really what you can hang your hat on in this entire discussion? Sorry guys, you are wrong, they are dead in the middle in playoff wins over the last 10 years!
It's a shell.of a team we used to be. Obviously it's that we have a lousy GM that has zero clue on how to develop a championship squad.

Somehow playoff wins are the only thing that matters to you. Somehow have 4 vs 0 is somehow comparable to you.

Regular season wins since 2000 the Cowboys are 11th in the NFL. The Lions are 2nd to last.

That doesn't matter though.....somehow.

We are all disappointed in our playoff lack of success but we don't need to be extreme to make silly points.
Playoff wins are all that matter anymore. Maybe in the early part of the 2000's regular season wins meant something but after 27 years no. It's getting easier and easier to make the playoffs anymore as well.

All of this Detroit/Dallas comparison.
And, of course, the old "go root for them" and "you're clueless" keyboard rage.

Quick.
Which team gave up the most double digit 4th quarter leads in 2022?
Which team was the hottest team not named 49ers in 2022?
Which GM not named Jones wouldn't prefer Goff over Dak, salary and all?
(I bet 90+% of you can't name their leading WR without Google)

Bottom line is the arrow is pointing up in Detroit. (Weird sentence in so many ways.)
There hasn't been an arrow in Dallas in a while. Except the ratings arrow.
Which brings us back to the OP. Yes, there is far more pressure to play for
Dallas than for Detroit. Which is probably why Dak chokes in the playoffs.
He has the stigma of 28 years of failure on his shoulders instead of 7 years.
It's not fair, but that's life. Suck it up, buttercup. Try again next year. "Here we go".

really , the america's team hasn't been seem for a long time now there more like the 3 stooges team. and as for being like lions they possibly have some kind of future now as for the choke boys with jerry's kin at the helm they have a future in broadcasting and that's about it. some have when into dope sells and killing ride alongs but that's about it. maybe after looking at the state of chicago and new york and also LA well maybe they are america's team after all

Jerry makes sure this team remains revenue relevant and therefore the Cowboys remain in the sports media.

You can't find any sports show that covers the NFL, where Dallas doesn't have an entire segment devoted to them.

Do you ever see the Detroit Lions covered like that? No. Yet, the Cowboys are playoff relevant like Detroit.

Until the Jones focus on championships and less on the bottom line, count on 30+ years of "good enough."
Your analogy doesn't make any sense. Tell the Tampa Bay Buccaneers the Cowboys aren't playoff relevant. That would be news to them. If you want your criticism of the Cowboy's lack of accomplishment to be taken seriously then you have to give them equal credit for their accomplishments as well. Ignoring the fact they advanced to the divisional round makes your argument about as effective as your singing, everyone can hear it but nobody wants to. I understand wanting the Cowboys to accomplish more but you won't get that expressed by comparing them to the Detroit Lions. We are clearly better than that. We beat both teams from the Super Bowl played in 2022 and we beat the team representing the NFC in the 2023 Super Bowl. We are close. 25 wins in two seasons including Playoffs. So stop your personal pitty party!
