Would Jerry have pulled the trigger on a similar trade? I don't think he would have and I think that is part of the problem with the team.

Well I know this much, if he let him go, half the board would call him an idiot for trading an asset like Revis.

If he kept him, half would call him an idiot for keeping a diminishing asset like Revis.

I've got a feeling they'd mostly be the same half of the board in both cases.

Jerry wouldn't have pulled the trigger on a similar trade and I would completely agree with him. Jets got raped on that trade.

Is it my imagination, or did the Lions (or someone) want to give us a first round pick for Felix Jones a year ago? If that memory is correct, Jerry wouldn't pull the trigger on that one either. And Felix will never be a Revis.

It depends on what you think makes you better:

1. Paying Revis $16M/yr over 6 years

2. Keeping the money and getting a #13 overall first round draft pick

IMO, that is too much money for a non-elite QB.

I think Revis very good but he has also been pretty banged up the last couple of years with leg injuries and that is a dangerous area for a CB to be hurt.

This could turn out to be another Charles Woodson where an elite player on a troubled team has a couple of off years with injuries and then gets traded away. However, the return extracted this time around was more for the trading team and the contract awarded ridiculous.

Revis may have been worth that during his All-World year. But that was 3 years ago and Revis has had major health issues that worry me in terms of expected future durability.

I think the Jets got a great deal for a player who is likely in major decline at a young age.

You know what's better than bashing Jerry for things he actually did? Bashing him for his hypothetical actions in hypothetical situations. Really drives the point home.

13th overall and a 3rd rounder for a player you don't feel you can keep is getting "raped"?

As for Jerry, he doesn't let anyone go, why would he let Revis go?

Jerry overvalues Dallas players just like many fans do. It has hurt this team time after time. Dallas would have a few more picks if Jenkins and Felix would have been traded this last offseason. The Cowboys had no chance of winning a Super Bowl this last season and it was short sighted to keep these players just to let them walk after the season. It is piss poor management.

Part of the problem is not being willing to trade a player someone else thinks is worth a first-round pick?

If Dallas had Revis, I'd have no problem with Jerry either paying to keep him or making a trade like this. I don't really see a loser in either situation, and such a scenario hasn't been the problem in Dallas.

That is entirely your imagination. Never happened. Not even close.

Must be your imagination.

Jerry was actually incarcerated for running a dogfighting ring at the time an served 1.5 years.
