Would Jerry have let Darrelle Revis go?

I think he would have let Revis go.

Jet's made a fine deal.

I personally think the guy is overrated compared to many others we have seen over the years...then coming off injury...no thanks.

Paying a corner coming off that type of injury QB money...silly. People will state that it is not guaranteed money...guess what...he will re-negotiate after this season. Year after year headache.

That is entirely your imagination. Never happened. Not even close.

He's probably thinking of that one time we wanted to use a first round pick on Felix Jones.... :penguin:

I don't really follow these things so if someone could answer: who were the last few players the Cowboys traded? If you know any of the specifics of the trades that would be cool, too...

You know what's better than bashing Jerry for things he actually did? Bashing him for his hypothetical actions in hypothetical situations. Really drives the point home.

It is pretty assuming isn't.

Jerry wouldn't have pulled the trigger on a similar trade and I would completely agree with him. Jets got raped on that trade.
Actually I think getting #13 overall for a guy they paid like a top QB is a great deal for them. They lost a great player, but they need to rebuild anyways.

Exactly, you try to rebuild by trading some of your players towards the ends of their primes for top value. Getting a first rounder for Revis given two pretty injury plagued years recently is a pretty good return.

I don't think he is anywhere close to the player he used to be in 2009.

My favorite part about this thread is that it is using the Jets as an example of how to make good managerial decisions.

First of all, we would've had to have a GM that could actually scout good talent in order to draft him.

No he wouldn't have. There were some on this board, myself included, who wanted to trade Romo to better ourselves in the future. It was obvious that Jerry wasn't going to have that. He is a short sighted GM IMO and not overly concerned with the future.

Nope :laugh2:

Although Jimmy was the "Mastermind" Jerry still had to sign off on it. So I don't agree with the premise...

You might as well let a player like that go when your rebuilding. Why pay him that kind of money when you know your not contending.i

Johnson essentially ran football operations when he was here, Jerry hasn't made any similar moves since he's been in control and actually operates in the opposite end of the continuum by extending former stars past their due dates. I think that that is the accurate premise.

Agreed. I actually think they should have traded him 2 years ago when he first held out. Maybe the Jets were delusional and thought they were actually contenders, but they could have gotten a much greater return for him at that time.
