Would Jerry take a chance with Vick?

Agreed.

None of what you wrote above can be said with any certainty. Too many moving parts there.

I think it is pretty likely that Vick will not play for the next 2 season. Even if he returns during some part of the 08 season he is not going to be football ready.

The fact is none of what is being written in this thread (concerning Vick) can be said with any certainty. All are nothing more than conjectures.

I would take a chance on him... Cant teach 4.3 speed. He could contribute somewhere...

Wouldn't break the bank to sign him, but I would make the call...

That tells everyone alot about you! This clown is going to be away from football for a long time...he will never set foot in a stadium as a player again!

Is everyone in McBoringVille as insane as you?

You don't understand. I said yesterday that his accepting a plea deal was the last Vick thread I wanted to see.

Thank you

I think for most people they have no idea how they will feel about Michael Vick once he's done serving his time. A lot of that will depend on how Vick conducts himself.

If he shows true repentance in most peoples minds then I think almost anything is possible.

True enough I think that the world likes to bring down those who've made mistakes. But the world also absolutely loves a comeback story and Vick's situation has lots of potential in that arena.

I think folks who declare he'll never play again in the league because of his now horrific reputation are too focused on today and not recognizing how quickly things can change.

But its all dependant on how Vick responds from here.

I think if he misses the next 2 years he is not going to be wanted, the NFL moves on. Now if he only misses this season then chances are someone will pick him up but I would add Vick has not been a great QB and I don't think many teams would be drooling over him. He has been part of the nail that has sealed 3 coaches fate and every WR has been blamed in large part for Vicks play. Even before the reports on dog fighting Vick was still being questioned on his ability to play the position.

He might come back in a better frame of mind because he learned a good lesson, but what you might be forgetting (by calling those of us out that he won't ever play again) is that he will be away from football for a long time, and he was never that good to begin with! Hey, I feel sorry for the punk, I really do...but I just don't see any way a team will go after him! How could they? For one, he's now a "felon"? (not that the NFL cares about that though). Did you know that most felons cannot even get good paying jobs because they cannot be trusted?

Vick is not going to hone his mad football skillz in prison, I guarantee you that! If anything, he might become a worse person by hanging with other criminals, especially if the other criminals try to hang with him. Also, who knows, there might be some crazed lifer criminal that wants to make a name for himself in prison and stick a #2 pencil in Vicks chest and break it off!

Vick has seen his best days...it's all downhill from here...

Good luck, Vick...you are going to need it!

If Jerry thinks that Vick can increase "anything" for new stadium and the team YOU KNOW he will pull the trigger.

The only thing signing Vick increases is the chance that protesters will be picketing his new stadium. If you think PETA is done just because he's going to jail, you are sadly mistaken.

I am not predicting Vick's return to the NFL. I'm just not ruling it out as some are.

Yeah, Vick may sink deeper while in prison. Odds are that he will unless he does a 180 with his life. I'm just saying a 180 is possible.

I'm also not predicting that Vick would come back to a mega contract. And while its true that Vick has largely not lived up to his billing, his $130 million contract (or whatever it was) is what 3 years old? Vick on the market today with a clean reputation, would have no problem securing a very sizable contract.

Vick 2 years from now, with a repentant heart and a walk that backs it up could very well get a tryout with someone.

Lest anyone forget, the NFL always finds a spot for a QB with some semblance of game (Jeff George notwithstanding).

Again, I'm not predicting. I just think some are being too absolute and too focused on the present. Who knows what tomorrow will bring?

And I KNOW you are dead wrong.

There is your answer, right there! Vick will never set foot on a field again.

:laugh2:

If you believe the Bible, Saul was a reknown persecutor of Christians. Repentant Paul, with a totally new heart, became a key leader of the Christian church.

If you think Vick isn't capable of a life changing transformation, I believe you are wrong. Its up to him.

What's he going to increase? The spread of herpes?

Come on, YoMick, Jerra might be dumb, but he's not stupid!

I don't think Jerry would sign Vick in any case, but especially not as a QB.

Vick would tear it up in the Canadian Football League with those sidelines providing extra room. Maybe he'll end up there for a while, once he leaves the big house.

Saul did not operate a dog fighting bizness! :laugh2:

Leave religion out of this, OK? It does nothing good on a board like this...

The point you are missing is if he pleads to gambling, he will NEVER regain his rep. If sports had a 10 commandments, gambling would be "thou shall not kill". You've heard of a poster boy? Ya know, 8 men out, Pete Rose, Tim Donaghy. Well guess what, Goodell has his and his name is Mike Vick. Not to mention you would have to find an owner willing to put up with weekly protests and bad pub. I think the chances of him playing again or so remote right now they aren't even worth mentioning. Like Emmitt said on national TV yesterday, Vick might have to go to Canada.
