Yea I know, another Romo and Dak thread. Lets say Dak starts off hot, and has the team a winning record and is playing good, so Dallas decides to keep him as the starter. Do yall think Romo would request a trade, or just be the backup?

He'd help Dak all he can this season, but then would be on his own possibly, next season.

I think he'd retire. He's on record saying he doesn't really want to go someplace else: he wants to win with his teammates. Add in the age and the injuries, and it'd be time to hang 'em up and do something else fun.

The 'unwritten' rule in professional sports is that a starter shouldn't lose his spot due to injury. Now, it's been done quite a few times but with Ginger @ the helm, this rule still applies. As long as Tony can throw/walk/crawl/roll/sleep walk on the field, he's the starter when he's ready.

The Cowboys will have to have a near perfect record before Red would not make Romo the starter once he is healthy. Red/Jerry might push to keep him out of action for a couple of weeks longer than necessary if they have a winning record, but Jerry would want him back as soon as Dak lost a game.

If this year does not go well for Romo, I think he will retire.

We can disagree on this one. If Jones turns his back on Romo and goes with Dak I think the competitive nature of Romo and his disappointing career would make him want to give it one last shot with a good team that needs a QB. And certainly Jones would want to get rid of that high salary. Hard to imagine now, but I think that would be the way it goes. I dont see Romo sticking around as the backup. And I think Jones would want to see Romo have the chance.

He would probably head to the Jets or someplace like that and win it all. LOL Demarcus Ware all over again. Maybe he could go win one with Demarcus in Denver.

Maybe Jones can trade Witten AND Romo to the same team for a last run at it.

a 37 year old QB with a broke back, a thrice broken collar bone, and a 100 million dollar contract?.......

a trade?????

If that happened Romo would probably retire. He'll be 37 next year and after 4 straight seasons with injuries especially with 3 different injuries to his back you wouldn't get much for him in a trade. He can't stay healthy so he can't be depended on. If Dak were to hang onto the job the entire 2016 season that would mean Romo would only have 4 games under his belt since 2015. His age, injuries and all the inactivity the past 2 years would make him unattractive to trade for unless it was a low round pick.

They retired Aikman. He didn't retire on his own and while I know it's the official story that Troy retired because of back issues, the back story is that the team cut Troy because of concerns and possible pressure from the League Office over growing attention to Concussions. The League has known and feared the ramification of concussion for years. I know that the NFL has been tracking them as far back as 1996. If they did it with Troy, I don't see why they wouldn't do it with Tony. Not saying they would but I am saying that they've done it before.

I think Stephen cut Ware while Jerry was out of town or at the strip club. I have a feeling that Jerry/Red will keep Witten as long as he can run the forty in less than 60 seconds..

I have to agree sadly.

Yes, they had to pay him a 10M roster bonus if he was on the roster past March which forced their decision.

Troy has said himself, that he retired because of concussions, not because of his back.

just to be very clear about this....JJ or SJ will decide when Romo returns....not Garrett.
