I honestly think Romo is far more concerned about Dak helping to hold this ship afloat until he returns then Dak actually taking his job. And I think he'll do all he can to help Dak.
The notion of Dak being better than Romo at this stage is absurd. If we asked the coaches who saw them both all through preseason, they would think anyone asking that is a peewee coach.
The goal is for Dak to keep getting better and looking great until he actually is ready to take the reigns for good.
I think right now at least, everyone, including Romo are excited about that possibility.
