Would Romo request a trade?

Romo is virtually impossible to trade with that mega contract and even if a team would agree to take on that contract, it would cripple the Cowboys cap to do it.

Bottom line is that Romo will be on this team for the next 2 seasons regardless of how Dak plays.

He would solve the backup QB need that's been plaguing the team.

I don't see Romo playing for another team anyway. He and the Cowboys would get together and do a restructured contract before that happens.

I just don't see the team doing that to Romo after everything he has done for this franchise. Seriously, those 8-8 seasons would have been 3-13 seasons without Romo doing his magic every Sunday.

When he said he would stay in Dallas, he was QB1. If he were to drop to QB2, we have no idea what he would do. What would any of us do? I'd ask to be traded or released and get my starting job back with a contender, if they had an opening. And it wouldn't be about the money.

Aikman would have played for another team, if they hadn't been gun shy with his concussions and Steve Young's forced retirement had them on alert because all of the concussion news was emerging.

We can disagree on this one. If Jones turns his back on Romo and goes with Dak I think the competitive nature of Romo and his disappointing career would make him want to give it one last shot with a good team that needs a QB. And certainly Jones would want to get rid of that high salary. Hard to imagine now, but I think that would be the way it goes. I dont see Romo sticking around as the backup. And I think Jones would want to see Romo have the chance.

He would probably head to the Jets or someplace like that and win it all. LOL Demarcus Ware all over again. Maybe he could go win one with Demarcus in Denver.
I think this is a possibility, and both jets and broncos have the defense in place, and they just need a qb.

I would be shocked if anything other than Romo retiring at the end of the season happens. I do think it's possible that he'll come back and play some this season.

Yea I know, another Romo and Dak thread. Lets say Dak starts off hot, and has the team a winning record and is playing good, so Dallas decides to keep him as the starter. Do yall think Romo would request a trade, or just be the backup?
Nobody is going to want Tony with his contract and health issues.......

LOL hard at categorizing Romo's career as "disappointing".

If his career was disappointing then so was the career of every single QB that played in the NFL but didn't win a Super Bowl.
You would think people with football knowldege would recognize this. Especially given it's a team game all...

In my mind it was a waste. How many playoffs did we miss out on because Garrett had to learn to coach? We were one game away in the final game like 4 times. 3 wins in the playoffs with his talent is shameful. I am sure he would tell you the same thing. Jerry Jones has said it many times that one of his greatest disappointments in his tenure is the fact that he hasnt been able to win one with Romo as QB.

Wasn't much of a back story, Aikman addressed it when he was asked in an interview about Booger said he retired, his eyes flashed and he said he didn't retire, he was cut and there were hard feelings about it for a while. He still thought he could play but he also thought he was Brad Pitt in "Moneyball". Damned concussions can be tricky.

It is according to some on this board. There was a fairly lengthy discussion on why Troy retired, which in truth, he didn't till after he was cut.

Dak's play would have to be off the charts for Romo not to regain his starting position. I hope it happens as it would be a nice problem to have.

I think if he chose to retire the Cowboys would be interested in bringing him in on the coaching staff.

I think he'd retire. He's on record saying he doesn't really want to go someplace else: he wants to win with his teammates. Add in the age and the injuries, and it'd be time to hang 'em up and do something else fun.

Romo will retire but, if forced, he might go to another team as long as Witten goes with him. They are a matched set
don't you know.

That crossed my mind. Thing is, Wit won't get hurt. He'll just keep slowing down and slowing down until eventually he's no longer moving at all. At which point we'll wheel him out in front of the stadium next to Tom for the kids to take pictures with.
