Yea I know, another Romo and Dak thread. Lets say Dak starts off hot, and has the team a winning record and is playing good, so Dallas decides to keep him as the starter. Do yall think Romo would request a trade, or just be the backup?
So your the guy who always threw the rock at the hornets nest in the barn?

He said on Ben & Skin a couple of months ago he would never leave Dallas because he owes it to the fans to try and win here.

That will change as quickly as the fans start to turn on him. Unfortunately now every time we lose a game we'll be calling for the backup.

Maybe I'm not reading this wrong, but I don't think Tony has ever had a concussion in his career. How could they force him out over concussions.

But yeah, Troy says he retired because of back issues, but we all know because of all the concussions
Troy was understandably confused.

You do know how that whole salary thing works right?

I'm a Dak fan as much as anyone, I'm also a big Romo fan, but for this to happen Dak is going to have to play the first 8 games at an MVP level. If we are undefeated, Dak is has the highest QB rating in the league and we're just a offensive juggarnaut then the discussion will come up. But we most likely won't be and not because of Dak but we wouldn't be with Romo because of the defense. Dak would have to play better than Manning and Brady for it to even be an issue. Most people in Dallas or outside of Dallas would agree that Romo is one of the top QB's in the league. To unseat him Dak will have to be the best QB in the league, numbers wise when Romo is ready to come back.

If we go 4-4 or 5-3, or even 6-2 then we know we got our guy for the future, because even going 500 for a rookie QB is pretty good, cuz he's learning on the fly.
A completely healthy Romo gives us the best chance to win this year.
Now I will say that Dak may be that special player and be our franchise guy. But Romo spoiled us by taking over for Bledsoe and playing at a pro bowl level. But Romo sat and learned for 4 years. But everyone is saying Dak is mature beyond his years so hopefully it won't take him four years to be able to play at a pro bowl level. But this season if he can keep us in the hunt until Romo comes back then he has above and beyond played above expectations and is our guy for the future.

I think you captured it exactly. Jerry and Steven are still loyal to Romo because they know they have wasted his career not giving him enough to work with. Now that he's got a great offense they aren't going to pull the rug out unless they are forced to.

Asking CB fans if Romo would accept a trade. We are his psychologist I guess.

I think Stephen cut Ware while Jerry was out of town or at the strip club. I have a feeling that Jerry/Red will keep Witten as long as he can run the forty in less than 60 seconds..
Too late on the 40

If Bridgewater was out next year, I could definitely see it. I doubt they sit him next year for Romo. Its possible and a definite need

P Lynch probably needs 2 years in the bench. Romo could step in there easily. Az would be the one that has been a QB (I have never been a Palmer fan though)
Yeah, that would've been for the playoff run this year and then if Teddy was out next year--which is sounding like a real possibility.

Can't see Zona pulling Palmer for another older guy. He actually had maybe the best year of his career last year. Near the very top of the league in all categories.

Tony isn't going anywhere anyway, so it's moot. Would be a bit funny and sad if he did, and then went tot he SB. Jerry would comatosed.

You realize that we have like a decade of evidence to the contrary, right? The fans always turn on him...in fact, the turn was towards actually liking him.

I think the competitive nature of Romo and his disappointing career would make him want to give it one last shot

LOL hard at categorizing Romo's career as "disappointing".

If his career was disappointing then so was the career of every single QB that played in the NFL but didn't win a Super Bowl.

They retired Aikman. He didn't retire on his own and while I know it's the official story that Troy retired because of back issues, the back story is that the team cut Troy because of concerns and possible pressure from the League Office over growing attention to Concussions. The League has known and feared the ramification of concussion for years. I know that the NFL has been tracking them as far back as 1996. If they did it with Troy, I don't see why they wouldn't do it with Tony. Not saying they would but I am saying that they've done it before.
Wasn't much of a back story, Aikman addressed it when he was asked in an interview about Booger said he retired, his eyes flashed and he said he didn't retire, he was cut and there were hard feelings about it for a while. He still thought he could play but he also thought he was Brad Pitt in "Moneyball". Damned concussions can be tricky.

Are you sure Witten still runs the 40 in under 60 seconds?

It's a message board, stop crying when people make threads

Then how about use one of the million other Romo/Dak threads to present your hypothetical instead of contributing to the flood of messages about the same thing?

I think Romo will remain a Cowboy till he can no longer play.

I do hope he becomes a QB coach for us after he hangs up his cleats. The football knowledge he has could be invaluable to younger QBs.

"Here's how you handle things when the owner is the GM and neglects the lines:"

"Here's what you do when your line protects you as well as tissue paper:"

"Here's what you do when you're blamed for the entire team's failure to man up."

"Here's what you do when your receivers can't catch in critical moments or constantly run the wrong routes:"

He could teach those scenarios well besides even QBing mechanics, pocket awareness, etc. You can't teach being a Jedi in the way that he is one.

Dak's value may never be higher than now--we could max out a trade!!

Just kidding people. I promise.
