I say no and never will. Your thoughts.

I think we won't know, since the Saints and Colts played on Sunday and we didn't.

Hopefully, we are smashing the other team by 2 or 3 touchdowns and firmly in control and don't have to onside kick at the half.

I would not have called it making that call is not great it was a major risk that very well could have backfired and had it back fired all those giving him a pat on the back today would be mocking him instead.

The better question is would Joe DeCamillis have had the ST ready for an on-side kick.

I say yes.

My friend got mad at me for saying that surprise on-side kicks aren't new. She felt validated when they said that it was the first time it was done in the super bowl.

It's funny, It worked and he's a hero, but if it didn't, Indy scores on a short field and wins the SB.

There's a fine line between hero and chump.;)

Good call??? I didn't think so, but hindsight's 20/20.

He must have felt that the team needed a serious lift and that was when he decided to chance it.

haha what a noob.

I don't care if Wade would've had the "guts" too or not. Its not a smart thing to do and it was almost so dumb to do that it worked.

Like Ernie Zampese said, "if a play works it was a genius call. If it fails it was ignorant." Too many with no grasp of the obvious.

True. Had the Saints been trailing by allot coming out of halftime then I would not have questioned the call but at 6-10 I think it was a risky gamble that could have cost them big. It worked even though the colts had 2 shots at recovering the ball but I think it was a foolish risk

I don;t know. Was Cowher a genius when he did it in 1995 and the Steelers still lost the game?

I mean I know it wasn't to open the half but it was still a surprise onside at that point in the game.

I don't recall too many people thinking it was 'gutsy', 'smart', awesome after they lost that game anyway.

It's all about how the game plays out. Had the Colts went on and won that game last night, even with that working for the Saints, there wouldn't be too many people patting Sean on the back for that.

In fact I can tell you right now what the media and stuff would say had the Colts won that game.

"Yeah that onside kick worked there but what it did was send a message to the Colts sideline that says, "Hey we don't think we can actually beat you guys. We don't believe we belong on the same field as you do so we're going to resort to this sort of stuff to try and steal the win." Sean Payton made it seem like he didn't feel like his team was as good, or belong, on the same field and Indy tonight and that's why they ultimately lost."

That, or some form of that, is exactly what the media and a ton of talking head fans would be saying this morning had the Saints not went on to win that game.

Nope but he may have gone for it on that 4th & Goal try by giving the ball to BARBER. :banghead:

the saints won the SB so peyton will get the props for a "gutsy" call, but the fact is that if the cowboys are down 6-10 at the half to that colts team and wade calls an onside kick, i would about blow up (unless it works of course).

so i dont think wade would have had the "guts" to make that call becasue that call had little to do with guts.

it worked, so great, but stupid call IMO

No, and I'm glad. That was a stupid decision. Great for him that it worked out, but that's just dumb.

On the nosey.

The Saints were playing much better than the Colts at that stage of the game. The score was 10-6...if they didn't recover, they give the ball to the Colts on the Saint 40...

What I did like is that Payton understood, in a big game you HAVE to be aggressive. It's like Jimmy and Norv vs the 49ers when the score was 24-20, throwing the ball to Alvin Harper.

Most coaches don't seem to understand, in big games, ya can't think small.

I'd hope Wade wouldn't make that call. It was stupid and desperate and they got lucky that it worked.

thank you Hank Wilkinson - Sean Payton

what people are missing is the fact that the Saints players and coaches said they had been practicing the onside all week. Payton, I'm sure was confident when he called the play. A gamble sure but it was a good gamble.
